Reaction to the new kits…

“Here’s Lawrence Emanuel with his take on the new kits…
I’ve just seen the new kits that Arsenal will be wearing next season and I must say that although I’m glad to see the round collar back on the home shirt like we used to have from the mid 60′s to early 80′s, I’m not really happy with either kit. The home shirt looks like something you see out here on the beach in Santa Monica, CA that is worn by the surfer ‘dudes’. Nike could’ve at least made the collar more white looking.
The away shirt…well I thought that Arsenal tried blue about 8 years ago for two seasons when they first joined up with Nike, but quickly reverted back to yellow due to protests from the fans. The away shirt looks like some type of tie dye job one would wear at a Grateful Dead concert in my opinion. I remember when Arsenal first changed their kits in 1982 after being one of the last teams ever to join the trend of having a new kit every other year like all the other teams. They came out with an horrendous emerald green shirt wth navy blue sleeves with navy shorts along with green and navy hooped socks. The media nicknamed us The Wimbledon Ball Boys as the kit resembled virtually the same outfit that was seen at the Wimbledon Tennis championships by the ballboys there. Old Arsenal fans should know what I’m talking about. Anyway, needless to say that after Arsenal received many complaints from their fans about the grotesque outfit that year that they quickly brought back the yellow. Maybe if we all do the same again, history might repeat itself and the club will see the error of their ways and finally rid us of that blue monstrosity.
With regards to the new club crest the less one can say about it the better other than please switch the cannon back the other way round and bring back the previous font! Arsenal is all about tradition and this thing they have now looks like something out of a kid’s comic…..IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A CREST FOR A FAMOUS FOOTBALL CLUB i.e. IT DOES NOT LOOK TRADITIONAL!”
