“Arsenal sign Swedish keeper Shaaban

LONDON (Reuters) – Arsenal have signed Swedish goalkeeper Rami Shaaban from Djurgardens for an undisclosed fee, the English premier league club said on Friday.

Shaaban, 27, impressed on a trial with the north London club this week and has signed a long-term contract, according to a statement released by Arsenal.

“”It was a very easy decision to come to Arsenal…the club has a great history and I am very proud to be here,”" said Shaaban.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been searching for goalkeeping cover ahead of the August 31 transfer deadline.

He thought he had secured a loan deal for Juventus’ Fabian Carini, but the move fell through earlier this month after a disagreement over personal terms.

After selling Richard Wright to Everton in the close-season, Wenger was left with 38-year-old England keeper David Seaman as the only senior, experienced goalkeeper at Highbury.

“”Rami will bring extra depth to our squad in what will be a very demanding season,”" said Wenger, whose side are top of the table after three games of the new season.

Rick,In my mind, the UCI has got to go to ArsenalFC and Arsenal.com, which has decided to try to wring as much money as possible out of all the fans.

* The new away kit is still a very sorry sight. I really believe that we would have beaten West Ham if we did not look like a bunch of Pepsi cans. I know this was on the UCI before, but it has to be repeated.

* Paying for crappy radio commentary and low quality-of-service is not what I have in mind. First they do a disservice to all overseas fans by prohibiting anyone from posting any goal clips and highlights but are unable to offer any Champions League or Cup highlights. Then, they begin charging for any useful information on the site. Now they want us to pay for match radio. What’s next? You have to pay to see the fixture list? Enough is enough.
