I’m sure many of you have seen the new Nike ad which shows a guy “streaking” at an English football match. Pretty fun stuff in my opinion and it’s generating quite a buzz.
Yesterday I stumbled across a website for onemillionmoms.com. They are an advocacy group that pressures sponsors to disassociate themselves from overt sexual and violent programming. Fine, that’s cool. So, they want Nike and the NFL to stop running the ad as they find it to be in poor taste. Ok, whatever that’s there choice. They even furnish you with a email that you can fire off stating your disproval. Of course, some soccer fans figured out how to tweak the letter so that it says, ‘great job, keeping running the ad,’ which I thought was pretty funny.
As I’m looking around onemillionmoms.com I discover they are also not a big fan of people with “alternative lifestyles” or of a “non-traditional sexual orientation” shall we say. In other words, they don’t like gays. They suggest you write to Cracker Barrel (the mediocre roadside restaurant chain) and condemn them for making sexual orientation a non-issue when it comes to hiring. In other words, they don’t think gay people should hold jobs.
Getting involved with politics is never a good idea. If you’re a member of Arsenal America, and assuming your not a terrorist (or Spurs fan is disguise) I don’t care about your religious, sexual or political beliefs. But I’d just like to state for the record that groups like onemillionmoms.com suck. That’s my belief and not necessarily those of Arsenal America.

I wasn’t a business major in college so I don’t know all the nuances, but it seems to me I could have done just as good a job with the whole AOL/Time-Warner merger. What a disaster. Hindsight is 20-20, but how was AOL, which has zero physical assets and was just one technological paradigm shift away from being obsolete (can you say broadband) going to add anything to Time-Warner?

That Nike commercial has gotten all the props, but how about ESPN for their new “Without Sports…” ad. It shows dueling family members watching a Real Madrid match with a cranky uncle calling Figo a traitor. The whole thing is in Spanish with English subtitles. Very cool.

Newcastle are kind of due for a smackdown, aren’t they? February 9 we put them away and it’s a two-horse race.

Seriously, have you downloaded Desktop Wenger yet? Got to, it’s great.

Hey, Sporting News Fantasy Premiership Soccer League operators, what’s up? You haven’t updated the scores in three weeks. You suck.

Ted Drake scored 100 goals for Arsenal in 108 games. Yes, it was in the 30’s when scoring was easier, but come on, he wasn’t playing against The Sisters of the Poor. They were professionals. 100 goals in 108 games? The guy was a freak.

If we get Marcos by the end of the month, would you play him? Wenger is kinda screwed here. If he plays him and the guy makes a mistake, it’s ‘Why wasn’t Seaman playing?’ If Seaman keeps his job and screws up… You get the picture.

Tampa Bay 21, Raiders 20. Tampa’s defense figures out that you have to knock the Raiders receivers off their routes early and D. Brooks picks off a pass to set up an easy score.
