TV Update 5th Round FA Cup, Arsenal Draw Man United
Jan 25

Yes, I know, the TV update was crap. Sorry.

Here’s a quick look at our FA Cup opponent from Ken Bradley…

In 1968 Farnborough Town FC Demons was formed in a small town SW of London along the M3. With humble beginnings in the Surrey Senior League they moved to the Spartan League then on to the Isthmian League. Apparently when you top the premier division of the Isthmian League you are invited to the Nationwide Conference which Boro Town did in 1989. A good showing in the FA Cup in 1991, they lost in the third round to West Ham in a replay, this match against the Gunners will be the biggest in club history.

Boro Town presently sit in 10th place in the Conference table with 10 wins, 10 loses and 5 draws. They are described as having an attractive attacking style that has netted them 33 goals thus far. They make their way to the 4th round by beating Darlington, 3-2, before 4,200 people. This was the largest crowd Boro Town faced this year, as they average about 1,000 at Conference games. The atmosphere at Highbury should be exciting and daunting for the players and fans alike. An internet search of Farnborought Town FC not only showed the official website but several “unofficial” sites. Perhaps the most loyal and fanatic supporters in the Conference they are realistic about their chances. They believe they still have a chance of producing the biggest upset in Cup history, plus the revenues created from the match should be the most money the club has ever seen. Win or lose it is a great day for the fans and club but should be an easy run for the Gunners.

Arsenal America Predicts: Ah, the romance of the Cup. There’s a great history of fantastic upsets and Farnborough will look to add their name to this list. No one thought Ohio State could beat Miami. No one thought the Pats would beat the Rams. Arsenal 4 - 0 Farnborough Town.
