There are certain things in life that are inevitable. It will rain in London in April and Arsenal will not win the League every year. I have just come back from London from a short ‘wish you better visit’ to dear Mother. It was raining when I arrived and when I left, and the title race is all but over. I will not concede the title until it is an impossibility but the noise of Man U fans against Scum singing “we’ve got our title back,” was quite frankly a little sickening.
I was wearing my Le Coq Sportif outfit for Sunday’s game. I was cheering for Scum against Manure. It felt like choosing eye gauging versus electrodes on the privates as a form of self imposed torture but none the less I stood my ground and cheered on the Lilywhites. To see both sets of fans whom I detest immensely celebrating after the game because it meant that Arsenal were slipping out of the race was a revolting sight.
I can excuse those Mancy Londoners for reacting to their teams’ win but if Scum fans only joy is jumping up and down and going barmy because their own team has lost at home and that result is bad for the Arsenal ; then I wish them a bare trophy cabinet, boring schoolboy football, high season ticket costs and freezing cold weather for home games for eternity.
When you are feeling down and wonder what if ……..spare a thought for the fans of Barcelona. That power house of Spain is out of Europe, have lost more games than the Williams sisters do in three sets of Tennis and are watching their arch rivals Real Madrid win everything with players Barcelona used to have. Barcelona have only recently secured their place in the top flight and the fans boo the players every game non stop from start to finish. There are protests outside the ground after the game.
Remember this team three years ago was winning the title every year and were feared in Europe. Arsenal can still win the double but an F.A Cup win and runners up in the league looks more likely. We will be in the Champions League next year; Barcelona will not be in any European competition. Hopefully our squad next year will be younger, deeper and better equipped for the challenges of the whole football season.
Pacemakers in marathons disappear towards the end of the race and are never remembered. We only remember those who cross the finishing line first.
