Maybe I missed it, but where were all the stories about Sir Alex Ferguson getting sent off in the first half against Newcastle?
Where are the stories about how this rageaholic, a man who kicked a boot and injured one of his own players last season?
Where are the editorials demanding that Sir Alex, for his own good, step away from the game for a bit?
Now of course I’m waiting for the 3-match ban from the FA. Clearly, abuse of the referee is far worse that getting a red card during play. After all, disrepect for an official, especially by the manager who should know better, leads to the breakdown of the game.
This garnered little more than ‘below the fold’ coverage in the websites I read today. Hmmm, now what would the coverage have been if Wenger has been sent to the locker room?
I’m now officially adopting a new motto: “Just because we are paranoid doesn’t mean everyone isn’t out to get us.”

You have a great argument here, but there is a subtle difference: Arsene Wenger being sent off would make headlines because WE WOULDN’T EXPECT IT. Sadly, Fergie’s behavior is not only expected, it’s commonplace. “He attacks his own players, why are the refs safe?”
Course, it prob. is more media ass-licking, but just an alternative look at the situation.

But by that logic there shouldn’t be big headlines when an Arsenal player is carded, after all, that is expected of us now, isn’t it?

Like I said before Rick, there’s three rules in football….one set for the manure scum, one set for 90 other teams, and one set to screw Arsenal! That also applies to the media coverage as well! God forbid they should stir anything up at Old Trafford, but anything to make life uncomfortable at Highbury they immediately jump on the bandwagon!

And for what it’s worth, there was a followup story today on Soccernet about his sending off, as well as today’s poll question being “Should SAF have been sent off?”.
