Aston Villa Preview UPDATED TV COVERAGE INFO OF MANCHESTER CITY v ARSENAL
Aug 27

So last night was the big matchup I had been waited for. Defending champion Dream Team vs. brash newcomer Playmakers

Frankly, it wasn’t a fair fight.

Last night’s Dream Team was possibly the greatest cliffhanger episode of television I have ever seen. The plotline was Harchester face Man U in the FA Cup final (scenes lifted from the ‘99 Cup final match). Chairman Jerry Block plans to have Luis Amor Rodriguez, his player/manager killed ON THE FIELD AT THE END OF THE MATCH! The show ends with the assassin pulling the trigger and the screen fades to black. But we don’t know if he hit Luis, or Lynda Block, chairman Block’s wife who just admitted to chairman Block that she was having an affair with - wait for it - Luis Amor Rodriguez! That is pure genius!

After that I flipped over to the much promoted Playmakers on ESPN. The show is a serviceable drama that stood out for its frequent use of the unedited word sh*t throughout the episode. The show was pretty much what you would expect and that was the problem.

I believe in the unbelievability of Dream Team, but I find the believability of Playmakers unbelievable.

No way an owner is going to have his player/manager whacked at Wembley. I accept that as just a crazy soap opera moment. But with Playmakers, they tried very hard to make it believable, but also watchable. Let’s face it, real life, even the real life of NFL players is pretty boring. That’s why these type of shows need to be unbelievable.
