Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed he does not want to return to Arsenal.
The Gunners midfielder is currently on a season-long loan spell at Barcelona and is hoping to impress the Nou Camp bosses enough to make his move permanent.
The Dutch international was nothing more than a bit-part player at Highbury and says he just wants to play regular football.
He said: “I hope I will stay, I am really enjoying it in Spain.”
There is also no way Gunners manager Arsene Wenger can recall the midfielder following their injury crisis as UEFA rules prevent clubs from recalling loan players from abroad.
“It is a different style of football but most important of all, I am playing week-in, week-out, which wasn’t happening at Arsenal.
“The deal I have is for a year and then I am supposed to go back. They can’t call me back in between.”
Van Bronckhorst still has two years left on his Arsenal contract and, as things stand, is highly unlikely to extend that deal.
He said: “I want to stay here. The deal I have is until the end of the season and then we will see where I stand.”
