Three - nil at halftime and a four - nil final. Henry bags two, Pires and the recently much-maligned Gilberto the other two.
Arsenal maintain their lead as Chelsea and Man United also record victories.

Does anyone else feel that Wenger wanted to give up possession in order to counter? The counter was quicker and more lively than we have seen all season and actually it seemed deliberate. Freddie was much improved but dang I wish Dennis would have scored.(He was back to his old self)

I really hope a full blown article is tossed out here on Arsenal America regarding ANOTHER 4-1 demolition of Leeds (2nd in 2 years!)
We played them off the pitch… let them have the ball for long spells……. and then struck with lethal skill on the counter…….. fanastic performance by us…… tell me someone who didn’t play well?? please??!!!!!!!!! we were outstanding…. and easily could have scored 6 or 7….
Great game on all counts….. and HUGE KUDOS to the Leeds supporters….. who sang and cheered LOUDER the more we poured it on…… that was CLASS….. we could learn a bit from them, in supporting our team thru thick and thin…
well done boys!!!!!!! now back to the CL…..
something tells me we get it RIGHT this time and spank the Russians at home!
(fingers crossed!)

I was given that impression too.
Seemed like the perfect tactic though, Leeds were pushing up so aggressively in the first half that it became fairly easy to catch them out on the counter. Of course when you’re down you have to keep on attacking, so they didn’t fare much better afterwards.
It felt like shades of the Inter game, just flipped around..

I am shocked that when we lose or draw or even don’t play well… commentary that flows … the negative responses that I see…..
and after a match in which we bushwack the opponent….. and virtually everybody on the pitch for Arsenal plays well…… all is quiet…..
we should be GLOWING and ECSTATIC with that performance……

Was Wiltord’s absense something of importance? Aliadiere being substituted on instead of Wiltord. Should we hold any significance to this or just resting for Kiev?

No Wiltord in the line-up… but I think with the score 4-0… why NOT give the kid Aliadaire a chance to play against some top flight competition…
nothing for Wiltord to prove with such a large lead and the game really out of hand… good reason to rest him extra… I don’t read anything into it…
KANU didn’t even make the bench…. and after he has played well recently… perhaps he (we) should be more dissapointed with that…???
