According to this story at Soccernet.com, which cites an unnamed source at Leeds, Jermaine Pennant was arrested in connection with an incident that has already led to Leeds player Jody Morris being charged with rape. Apparently Pennant is free on bail pending “further inquiries.”
Now, of course, I realize Jermaine was no saint while he was playing in the red and white (or more accurately, the reserves), but what is it about the north of England that turns players into criminals? Can someone explain? Should Freddie, Thierry and Patrick be watching their hubcaps when Jermaine returns on December 20th?

I am not sure Arsene had ever really rated Pennant highly… and this incident will not do much to endear him to Le Boss…
I would not be surprised if Pennant’s loan was, yet again, extended… as he could not currently get into our squad on a regular basis… thats just fact.

I’ve had the opportunity to see him a few times and I try to temper my opinion of his progress with the fact that Leeds are not the same side as Arsenal. He has done well at times but consistency is the problem. As for as the right wing, I’d put him behind Freddie still, and depending on which Wiltord shows up, ahead or behind him. I’d put him ahead of Parlour (who I’d rather see in center mid anyway). Pennant has a good workrate and crosses better than Parlour. I’d put him 2nd or 3rd choice off the bench if he came back right now.
As far as this recent incident, I’d be curious to know how he was involved. Even if he wasn’t involved in the actual act was he frequenting places that he shouldn’t be going to? If so, then he may be a risk if he has a behaviorial issues.
