Happy New Year FA Cup 3rd Round-Leeds United
Jan 01

Well, the Transfer Window is open, what will Le Boss do? Lots of talk in the papers of course, and as usual Wenger is playing things close to the vest. Here’s what I’ve read/heard:

Volz goes to Fulham permanantly - On the surface I don’t like this, I thought this guy was going to be a player for us. But if Wenger thought so, he wouldn’t let him leave. Perhaps he’s good, but just not quite Arsenal-good.

Yaya Toure comes to Arsenal - For $2 million, is there anyone here who wouldn’t take a chance on this kid? If he’s anything like his brother, I’m sure we can find a spot for him.

Patrick Kluivert comes to Arsenal - Ok, this is tricky. He’s one of my top five favorite players, so of course I would like to see him come here. I also accept that he’s going to be a big time prima donna. Heaven help us if he comes here and doesn’t like it for some reason, then we’ve got an Anelka situation on our hands. But if he could connect with Henry, (I’ve got the Homer Simpson beer/donut drool thing going on right now). Barring injury we are one player away from winning every/anything. That one player is a consistent scoring threat to partner Henry. Kluivert would be good I think.

Kluivert is not my choice and never will be. I truly believe his presence in the Arsenal dressing room will cause to much conflict between players. He is a trouble-maker only out for himself. At Arsenal it’s all for one and one for all.

My choice for Thierry’s partner would be Alan Smith. I’ve mentioned it before on this site. But right now he would be ideal, not being cup-tied in European football.

I know he also has history as a bad-boy, but I believe under Arsene’s guidance he would curb his “youthful exuberance” and channel his obvious aggression into becoming a truly great forward.

My opinion agree with it or not.

I would take either one in a second. By the way I’m going to post my comment about Spurs here: I would love to see them go down but as an Arsenal fan living in the US, I feel more of a rivalry with ManUre because of the way the media portrays them and also how many frontrunning twats we have here. If I lived in London I’m sure I would feel different but ManUre is the bigger rivalry than me and I would much rather see them go down.

I would love to see one of our strikers hit form… and necessitate the need for bringing one in!!!
Kanu deserves a run of games…

Kluivert? don’t like his attitude / baggage… but his talent is not deniable! How has he done this current season? does anyone know?

I like Alan Smith….. I love James Beattie… but I think Sylvan Wiltord will get another chance from Arsene Wenger before we buy someone….
I don’t know how I feel about that…. but thats what I think will occur…

Why not make an audacious bid for Ole’Gunner Solksjaer…. the baby faced assasin! that’d piss off United!!!!!!!!

  4. asfoolasiam Says:

    Sol*#jaer is not welcome here.

  5. ColPlunkett Says:

I like Kluivert, and had the oppurtunity to see him play at the Nou Camp a few years ago. He scored an impressive goal on a long run. Unfortunately, that’s all I have seen of the Dutchman and my opinion is based mostly on that one night. Arsenal probably does need another striker for the title run, and although it may seem like it, Henry can’t do it all by himself.

  6. stag133 Says:

    whatever!!

I suppose you wouldn’t want Ruud here either!
    get a grip… United have excellent players…

  7. asfoolasiam Says:

You are correct; I would not want Ruud here either. It’s not merely an issue of being a great player; it’s about having the right attitude to fit in with the squad that Wenger has assembled. Given Sols*#aer’s cowardace with Big Sol last Spring, and Ruud’s well, you know, I don’t think either could ever develop a chemistry with our current squad.

(If we were talking fantasy league or something, I might agree with you.)

  8. stag133 Says:

    No… I’m not talking Fantasy League…
I am talking that I see talent… and I know that United have great players… I am under no illusion that they don’t or that I wouldn’t want them because they play for “THEM”…

if you wouldn’t want Ruud then… you have issues… he would be the perfect foil for Henry…
and… for that matter… you must DEFINITELY not want the likes of Patrick Kluivert… bad attitude, bad record, history of trouble with the law, known PrimaDonna…

I have faith that Arsene would KNOW who to bring in… and who not to…
I don’t think United would send anyone our way… as we would never let anyone go their way either…

Kluivert: Only on loan for 6 months with an option to buy. See how he plays and interacts. If he works out fine, if not, by summer we’ll have money available for someone else.

Alan Smith: Don’t have a problem with him coming. I think he’d do well with us. Maybe a swap. Wiltord for Smith. Either permanent or loan. Throw in Pennant on loan for 6 months to seal the loan deal.

Saha: He’s my choice. I’d have made a deal with Fulham giving them Volz and Wiltord for him.

I also think we should give Aliadiere far more minutes. Hope to see him and Kanu in the FA Cup runs and see Ali get some minutes at the end of league games.

  10. stag133 Says:

I agree on Aliadiere and Kanu…
they need playing time… they have both played well in the small number of chances they’ve had…

Don’t think Saha is going anywhere…. if I were Fulham I wouldn’t move him… not if they wish to nab a place in Europe next year… they are currently on pace to do so…

but if they’d swap him for Wilty and Volz… I’d drive them both over to Loftus Road!

  11. asfoolasiam Says:

Hey, there’s no need to result to stupid personal attacks. I don’t have “issues”; quite the contrary, I think you have to be a nut to want to bring Nisteldive to Highbury considering the number of Arsenal players who hate his guts.

Which is why I figure you must be thinking of fantasy league. Because in the real world, with real players who have real emotions, RvN would NOT be a perfect foil for Henry unless you first got rid of Vieira, Lauren, Keown, Cole, and countless others that he has terminably pissed off. It’s not an issue of RvN’s playing for United (I would take Scholes, for example); it’s an issue of RvN’s a) being a cheating dumbf*ck who b) has a long history of mutual hatred with numerous key Arsenal players.

I’m not a big fan of Kluivert, but I would take him in a heartbeat over RvN for the simple reason that the entire Arsenal team doesn’t loathe Kluivert.

  12. AmericanGooner Says:

If Saha puts in a transfer request and Man Utd offers enough, he’s going to Old Trafford. Simple as that. I really don’t want to see Saha at Man Utd and prefer he stay at Fulham. I’d really love to see him with us.

  13. stag133 Says:

I am not really sure it works that way…
As if a team is in contention to win a spot in Europe next year… be it UEFA or CL… there comes a huge financial gain from doing so…
United are not stupid enough to overpay by much for Saha….. he has not exactly done much in his career….. and I wouldn’t want us to overpay for him either… so I doubt he is going anywhere.

Just because a player asks to be traded/transferred…. doesn’t mean the team is obligated to do so….. it has to be in the teams best interests… (see: Alex Rodriguez… still of the Texas Rangers!)

  14. mattinho Says:

Eto’o: Rumors abound that he’s coming to THOF next year to the tune of about 14m. Fingers crossed. The only drawback is that he’s a short stack, not exactly a target man who’s going to knock ‘em in with his head.

Kanu + Aliadiere: they need playing time so they can hit stride in time for those CL away matches that Dennis won’t be flying to.

Volz: why not sell him? We’ve got Kolo, Lauren, and Hoyte who can all play right back.

    Wiltord: any takers?
