I just read on the Mirror website that Arsenal are contemplating a move for Villa’s Colombian striker Juan Pablo Angel. It would cost them 20 million pounds however, and I don’t think an unproven Latin American/Southern American striker deserves this much, let alone 5 million. From what I’ve seen of him he is your typical Hispanic striker who complains, dives, etc. and to pay this kind of money for him would be outrageous. Any thoughts?

(Editor’s note - the broad, general stereotypes made in the above are the opinions of Shibby13 and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or viewpoints or Arsenal America or its owners.

Hmmm… you are dancing on some very thin ice!!!
Typical Hispanic Striker… a very broad brush indeed!

    I wouldn’t pay 20 mill… but I think he is a good player…
I would love to see Anelka back here… but thats because I think he is extremely talented… not sure about his attitude though…

Lets just put Kolo Toure up front… he succeeds everywhere else he plays!

The stories have legs but the price involve is not true. I know from my sources that Arsenal were looking at him as a possible buy for summer but due to the lack of fit strikers at the moment a mole in Villa or maybe Arsenal went to the media.

I broke this story about a week ago saying Arsenal needs a striker and knowing Arsenal things were done in the dark” secret” but there are about 4 guys the club is looking at.

Well I know some of the fans going to get wet up saying Mr Wenger knows best. Of course he does and none of your fantasy Ideas thanks

The problem is funds and if a clubs knows Arsenal want one of their players’ they asked for silly money. Angel is not that good or bad but 20 million pounds forget it. I will play for free.

But on a serious note If something happens to Henry for a week or two we are screw. Ali, Dennis and Wiltord on the sick bed. Kanu last game on Sunday and off to the Nation cup and the 3 kids I keep talking about have not have the chance but good.

So I am thinking about the future not what happen yesterday and all good Gunners are feeling the same.

Peace to people with positive ideas not fantasy ideas

Did I heard the name “Anelka” here..
Wow maybe I am on the wrong site..

I bet my life on this. If the name is even mention in Highbury the directors will good nuts and they will have my season ticket back.

Damn please where have you being all years.
    Anelka not even Spurs

  4. BarnetFCGunner Says:

Not just your season ticket I will have sack the board for something stupid like that..

Forget it, Anelka will never come back to Highbury.
As I mention there are lots of Fantasy ideas here at times.

Good one Anelka to Arsenal I cant stop laughing!!!

Yes… there are ALOT of crazy ideas thrown out here on Arsenal America… its a fan’s site… thats half the fun…

but while some of you BRISTLE at the thought of a former player returning… or heaven forbid… a United or Spurs player coming to Arsenal… I don’t have my head in the sand… I enjoy the talents of players no matter what team they are on…

I know Man U has great players… I would welcome Van N. if he were available…
I can SEE Anelka is talented… I don’t have blinders on because of the shirt the player wears…

Did you welcome SOL CAMPBELL to the team?
or do you boo & hiss him whenever he gets the ball??? because he played for the Totts???

I’d take Anelka over Kluivert ANY DAY… If you are going to talk about bad apples… he takes the cake.
Many players have baggage… Alan Smith has baggage… etc etc etc…

If you are an Arsenal insider… and have all the facts… then thats great for you… I’ll still express my opinions of who I like… and who I wouldn’t mind seeing here in Arsenal colors…

    One word: SAHA

We won’t get him but he’d be great for us. We won’t even pay 8 mil for Angel I think and we’d laugh at 20 mil. If Anelka returns I’d accept him back. I think he’ll see its his last opportunity.

All I know is we will not pay that much money for Angel…if its true we are interested.

True this is a fan site but try and separate facts from fiction and speculation.

Please read Arsenal Anelkas’ History. He is were he is now thanks to Arsenal and Mr Wenger. Wenger turn him into a superstar and all we got was a nice Fu@k You. We all know he has talent but let me tell you something Arsenal is always seen as a family club but money is changing the face of the game.

I know for sure he will never be allow into Arsenal and ARSENAL FC knows what 99.9% of season ticket holders will do.

The rest of the guys you talking about it up the the manager and the club. I love them if we can afford them. Every player have baggage but is up to the manager to tell him who is the boss and it works.

I welcome Sol into Arsenal yes even I cant stand the club he used to play for not the person. For VAN N. well if you read Ljungbery’s article it tells you why most Gunners dont like he and nothing to do with his club.

  9. love_Gunners Says:

    Yes Saha anytime.
Angel the price is too high.
As for the other guy let him go to hell. 5 clubs in how many years. You do the maths.

  10. Shibby13 Says:

I didn’t mean to be racist in any way but honestly when have we seen a decent Hispanic striker come along besides ones from Brazil and Argentina.

  11. stag133 Says:

    Shibs!
I know what your saying… its just a PC world…
and too many things get misconstrued!
I think Angel is half decent…

  12. stag133 Says:

We sold Anelka… for MANY MANY MILLION…
We made alot of money on that sale…
He is almost out of chances at this level…
and if ANYONE could reach him… it would be OUR Frenchman… Arsene Wenger…
Alot of the problems with Anelka… involve his brothers as agents… not necessarily Nic…
    His talent can’t be argued…
I DO NOT THINK HE’LL BE COMING… I SIMPLY SAID … based on talent… I wouldn’t mind him compared to what we have…

And like Van N. or not… he is one of the best strikers in the world… we actually were interested in him before he signed with United… thats FACT!
I don’t envision he is coming either… I am simply saying… AGAIN… based on talent…. he would be far above anyone else we have and or are looking at, to partner Henry…

And… quite frankly… I don’t think the season ticket holders would turn in their tickets no matter WHO they signed…
If they did…. there is a HUGE LINE of people who’d immediately take them off your hands…

Arsenal will do whats best for Arsenal…

i wouldn’t take Anelka back even if he was the last striker on earth. he is an overrated tosser and about 90 % of his goals are either fluky or penalties. he is not even on the same planet as henry. if he was a half-decent bloke i wouldn’t mind but he is such as miserable self-important prat, he pales into comparison with Henry both as a player and as a person.

angel is a decent player who could be the sort of player we need(fox in box) but i thought the same about Jeffers and look what happened there. however angel is a more polished player than franny.

we should buy ricardo fuller of preston. hes class but it wont happen as Wenger will look to the continent no doubt. i do think we really need to buy a forward of some sort, and thats even with all our strikers fit. i think sometimes in matches we look a little bit stale and flat(valencia away last year) and i think that flat mentality affected us a bit at the tail-end of last season-we almost look bored of eachother at times. a new spanking forward could freshen things up and put in extra spring in our step. Zlatan Abrahamovic would be perfect, a presence up front with skill to match.

With all this talk of old strikers and ManUre players coming here, I’ve put a call in to Frank Stapleton to polish his boots and throw away the zimmer frame.
