Guardian Angel? Safe Hands Calls It Quits

This from the Spurs website. As always, my comments are IN ALL CAPS…

David Pleat has confirmed that Spurs have been unsuccessful in their attempt to bring Edgar Davids to White Hart Lane (IN RELATED NEWS, SPURS WERE ALSO UNSUCCESSFUL IN THEIR ATTEMPT TO BRING QUALITY FOOTBALL TO THE EPL).

The Dutch international was set to join Barcelona in a permanent transfer at the end of the season and our approach to his current club Juventus was to take the experienced midfielder on loan for the remainder of the current campaign (WE BELIEVE NEGOTIATIONS BROKE DOWN WHEN WE ANNOUNCED WE WERE FROM SPURS AND THEY REPLIED, ‘WHO? FROM WHERE?).

But Barcelona have now opted to sign up the 30-year-old immediately on a temporary basis (OTHERWISE HE WAS DEFINITELY COMING TO WHITE HART LANE).

The combative Davids has found himself out of favour at Juventus and his need for immediate first team football ahead of Euro 2004 prompted our approach to the Italian club (HIS NEED FOR IMMEDIATE QUALITY FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL PROMPTED HIS REFUSAL TO JOIN US).

Said David (FOR ROUGHLY THE 375TH TIME IN THE LAST 15 MONTHS): “We have to concede defeat. The Dutch connection at Barcelona was the decisive factor (YEAH, THAT WAS THE ONLY REASON HE DIDN’T CHOOSE SPURS).”
