This news that this Reyes kid has been signed can only mean the end of Sylvain Wiltord. This new signing creates a log jam at the position with Wiltord, Henry, Bergkamp, Aliadiere, Kanu etc…. But with Wiltord unable to reach an agreement with the club, and a horrible season this year, he’ll probably be out on a free transfer at the end of the season… He was a good player, and I really don’t expect to see him in the red of Arsenal next season. You were a good Gunner Sylvain!! Thanks for scoring that goal at Old Trafford in the Double Season!!

Anybody had a chance to see Reyes in action and care to share thoughts?

Just say it. The guy is good but playing like shit since the goal at OT.
Good Luck to him and Kanu and with Reyes and the Kids we can build a better and future Arsenal.

He is good and will be better at Highbury under the wings of Wenger.
I saw him on sunday against another Arsenal target and he did well. The other targer scored in that game. no names here

I am glad someone has something positive to say about Sylv Wiltord. He is a good player, who has played well for us. He was a major part of our lifting trophies in the recent past. He has not left the building yet… although it does seem likely!

I can understand why the club don’t want to give Wiltord 4 more years - I’m sure he’s not cheap and there’s some concern about how well he can perform over that time. Even more so with trying to develop some of the youth in the squad, planning for the future, there’s less and less of a place for someone like Sylvain who has been crucial for us at times but has also been inconsistent and patchy. More so than a lot of players, he runs hot and cold.
If money were no issue, it’d be nice to have Syvlain around as a utility player for striker and right winger. I can’t see him holding down a starting role any more, though.

I’m tired of all the sentimental twaddle about SW14! Just cos he scored that flamin goal at OT? Facts is, he is one of AW’s biggest flops! For what we paid for him he should have done better. He’s been a useful squad member and that is it.
The OT goal was a tap in off of Freddie’s hard work. Ray Parlour was man of the match at OT in 2002 and at the Millenium Stadium against Chelsea. Never see the same sentimental clap trap being posted about Rayzer do we?

Wiltord can not get a 4 yr contract. He’ll be 34 pushing 35 by that time and way past it. But you say what about Bergkamp? DB10 has other skills that doesn’t diminish greatly with age. His great touch, vision, passing. Wiltord is all pace and a poacher. Within 2 years he’ll lose that pace. He can’t dribble, passes average. I think he’s a good player but a 33 or 34 y.o. Wiltord will be of no use. Aliadiere, Bentley, even Quincy will be far more effective than Wiltord in about 3 years. 2 year contract and thats it. Wiltord knows after he’s 32, he’ll be sought only by mid and lower table PL sides or a promoted side.

well, looking at Wenger’s extreme reluctance in the past to have a squad of extreme depth(selling silvinho when ashley cole was only left-back we had) ii does look like it is the end for sylvain, ‘you probably think the song is about you’, wiltord.
the guy has been a useful and important squad member, bit like christopher wreh in the sense that he is relatively shite but yet scored some extremely important goals, and i know i ashley cole scored the goal against Dynamo Kiev but wiltord did cross and create it, a thing henry didn’t look like doing in a month of sunday’s in that particular game.
however if he does go, i think this is a good as time as any to say that i will never forgive him, never, for being dispossessed on the touchline in the build up for valencia’s second goal last season. that single moment summed up everything i grew to despise about him, and the way he stuck his bloody tongue out when he screwed up. god, i know its cruel but goddamn good riddance. he was no more than a ?4 million player.
reyes looks like a class player from what ive seen, he is a similar sort of player to giggs in that he is more of a creator but can play up front. great business by wenger, a great pyschological boost as well anything. if we hadn’t of bought him we may have gone a bit stale and flat, like we did last season.

everyone knows reyes…remember when gallardo celebrated a goal by a colleague by biting his genitals?
well reyes was the scorer and it was his genitals that were bitten

If something is bad just say it period. I have much respect for both Kanu/Wiltord but the time is right.
I had the chance to meet them at Kanu’s Charity party, talk about football but they are inconsistent and sad to see nice people go but is about time.
And to all those who think I hate these guys sorry, that is far from it but the future and a better Arsenal.
I dont paid pounds to watch inconsistent people thank you. If so I will not have a job today.

I dont think he was that good against Chelsea. But one game in five is not good. We all have our days and chances so make use of it.
If you had the chance look at the back of the offcial programme for Stats.

/me sentimental clap-traps about the Rayzor.
(Actually, I seem to remember Rayzor going through a “fan favorite” phase earlier this season. Perhaps I’m hallucinating.)

I guess 1/5 of the Francais connection will be leaving this summer. Besides, he is getting old and playing pro footie for another three years isn’t the ideal thing to do, look at Bergy!

Given a choice between Ray and Sylvain, I’d keep Ray. I suspect there are a lot of people that would disagree with me on that, but I think Ray does contribute a lot to the squad in ways that Wiltord doesn’t.
For one thing, he seems happy to be a squad player, to come in when he’s needed and work hard. When we need that extra bit of defending/ball winning in midfield, he’s a great addition. He knows he’s not a starting player but he makes the most of the time he’s given.
I seem to remember that, in the off-season, Wiltord was being somewhat vocal about his dissatisfaction at being played on right wing and not getting the start up front. That really put me off - the attitude of “If I can’t play as striker then I’d rather go to a different club”.
