Solid effort here from a new member (or maybe just a first time poster)…
Since the signing of Reyes and the work of DBjr in the FA cup, the words versitile and creative have surrounded the Arsenal and its players young and old. Le Boss’ methods of training and strategy seem to indicate that these traits are what is essential to his idea of the Arsenal in the comming seasons: a team which is able to stun its opponnets not only through a reputation of excellence but also by exceeding all others in its cerebral nature.
We already know from Freddie, Bobby, TH14, and Dennis that the players who enter this squad are a rare breed combining phenomenal physical talents with an ability to read the other team and react seamlessly. What the signing of Reyes and the performance of the youngsters indicates is that this style will be a mainstay of the Arsenal of the future.
All season we have played teams not necessarily willing to take the game to us, prefering to sit back and have success on the counter. While many times this has ended in a draw, on the more outstanding occasions the Arsenal have pulled through finding a way to penetrate the “back 10″ and score goals. By investing in players who are able to quicly adapt to different positions on the pitch, create/find space, and perform together I think many of these draws will turn into victories. In having a team that is able to simply deconstruct the other squad on the pitch the Arsenal will be able to find opportunities where other teams simply can’t. This style of play, which Arsene has instituted so well should only lead to more hardware.
This is why we don’t neccesarily need an all out strike in the front, and why any concerns with depth can be seen as less startling. At any point in the game we will field an 11 that will through teamwork, skill, and simply outthinking the opponent will find a way to win. I’m excited at the future of the club. Welcome Jose and Long live the Arsenal.
