Has anyone here been following what our #1, Jens Lehmann, is like when he’s not in our strip?
Lately he’s been in a jockeying-for-position feud with German captain and icon Olver Kahn, feeling he’s in a better position to be Germany’s keeper at Euro 2004.
While frankly, he may be right, especially as I don’t feel Kahn has been quite at his World Cup 2002 stature this season with Bayern, he’s really facing an uphill battle here. For one, Kahn is a German football icon. Second, Rudi Voeller clearly supports Kahn over Lehmann, going so far as to say “I’m not allowing a goalie discussion.” Jens, who we knew was a bit of a hothead when we signed him (and 2 FA warnings this year haven’t helped that rep!), even took a cheapshot at Kahn’s private difficultiues. Hoo boy. I’m just curious if maybe Lehmann ought to put all of his effort into Arsenal than Euro 2004 at this stage — at least he IS the #1 at Highbury!
Meanwhile, AS Roma boss Fabio Capello has decided his next career move should be….Tottenham. OK, what’s wrong with THIS resume — AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma…and Tottenham? Doesn’t actually being part of winning teams disqualify you from taking over at Spurs??
Although, I love this quote: “For the future I wish to be going to a championship I don’t know a lot about.” Well, maybe he WOULD fit in, as Tottenham clearly doesn’t know a lot about championships either!

You scared whoever you are..lol.
Anyway I think Kahn is losing it as a top keeper but far from being a bastard. He used to be best thing between the posts for a long time.
Jens I know play for Arsenal but the Germany’s like kahn. Jehs was stupid with his comments anyway.
If you wants his shirt work hard for it and but silly words like that will not help.

Kahn is a twat, pure and simple. Lehmann though, while admittedly not the best shot-stopper in the world, at least has bollocks. I look forward to every game, and his inevitable finger-wagging at some opposing twat. A prime example of that was his argument with the portuguese prat Postiga earlier in the season, in the first derby vs. rottenham hotsperm. We need that kind of take-no-prisoners attitude in the squad. I think that may be why Wenger signed him. The reason Lehmann is not making the German squad is simple… the kr*uts have a fondness for loud and blustering dirty old men who, for all their ranting and raving, simply dont have a pair between them. Hence Kahn is the favourite. Lehmann, a true, solid stand-up figure is just something they don’t know how to handle.

Yeah Kahn is a bastard. He overdramaticizes injuries and does not deserve the respect he gets today, plus he used to wear an endorsed baseball cap when he played goal. That shows he cared more about money than his own performance, wearing a cap would definitely affect performance.
He was the best keeper in Europe a few years ago, but that is no longer true today. Jens is right there, he may not be better than Kahn, but he at least deserves a chance to prove he is.

Lehman’s comment, after being asked about Kahn’s howler against Real: “I didn’t see it”
Seems that Arsene’s rubbing off on the boy!! *L*
Give ‘em hell, Jens!
