Hello, fellow gooners!
I and my husband (plus our two little ones) visited Highbury last year in April. We saw the FA semi finals at Old Trafford and a home game against ManU. We figured we definitely should go before Bergkamp retires and before the new stadium.
We used a sports travel agency, it’s quite expensive but well worth it especially we were travelling with our kids (4 and 9 yr old). We all sat together at Highbury, but were separated (pair) at Old Trafford (nevertheless it was wonderful!). The experience of being there and being surrounded by people with the same passion was just out of this world!!!
The cost I would say pretty much evened out for us because it was our first time in London, we had kids with us, and the hotel, breakfast, and unlimited local travel/subway were included. We got to visit the museums and other sites. We maximized our stay totally!
Have fun on your first trip to Highbury!

Hello, Susana. Happy to hear you had a great time as I am headed there for a week in April-May. Birmingham City will be visiting the great stadium, and while many of The Arsenal legends will be there, I may run into a situation where we’ve clinched the title and the likes of Henry, Bergkamp, Cole, Pires, etc. will be sitting. Ah well, bittersweet.
I am considering purchasing the 7 day unlimited transportation pass around London. I’ve heard that its best to get them ahead of time, as they aren’t available once you get to London. In you opinion, is this a good idea? I know they were included in your package, but were they cheaper and easier int he long run?
Anyway, congrats on a great trip and best of luck with your little ones.

scott,
The 7 day pass (zones 1 and 2) is really a no brainer. Get it before you go through their website http://www.thetube.com. I would suggest only getting the pass for central London as the only time you’ll need anything beyond zone 2 is if you do take the tube from/to the airport.

The 7 day pass (or any pass) is absolutely a no-brainer. You’ll find yourself using the tube (AND BUSES) far more frequently in just a matter of days (and I recommend buses for a much better view of the surrounds).
However, you may wish to consider the Heathrow Express & Tube card that you can get (ONLY) as a foreign visitor to the UK. The TFL website has some information on it and it is basically a 7 day tube card + a discounted Heathrow Express card (if that’s what you want to use).
