I just went on a Spurs Message Board to see what that they think about the game. Here are some excerpts from a candid post…
Our chances next week
xzander writes “Just to test the water and gauge opinion….
Next week, Spurs will play Arsenal. Arsenal are about to win the title. They’ve chosen a passionate, driven manager, stuck with him, and supported him, both financially and in the boardroom. The result has been long-term success; and this season the team has not lost a game; collectively, never mind individually in relation to Henry, they cannot stop scoring goals of effortless quality. They are strong, athletic, and operate with skill and pace. They also demonstrate a level of togetherness and a will to win that has swept aside all before themm this season. They scored five without reply (against Leeds).
Tottenham, on the other hand, have been badly mismanaged for at least ten years and probably more. Virtually every season has become a ‘transitional’ season, since the board, which has also changed, experiments with different management structures and coaches. Thus, virtually every season, the new manager is in the process of clearing out the players he doesn’t like that he inherited and bringing new players in, who are cleaned out in a couple of years by his replacement. This means that there has been very little purpose or vision to the club’s operations for years since we are always between regimes. There have been many disastrous purchases, and a ridiculous amount of money has been spent on, well, dross; I’m talking, ?8.1m for richards, ?5m for Thatcher, ?4.5m for Perry, Armstrong and Fox, the list goes on. None of these players realised any significant return on their departure. Even when we do obain an asset of value we manage to completely fuck it up, e.g. Rebrov. We have spent more money than Arsenal, yet they have Champions’ League football every year.

Can I add that Ipswich have qualified for Europe more times than the sc*m in the last fifteen years.
David Pleat has taken Sol?s replacement, Ledley King and put him in midfield because ?if Wenger can do it for Vieira, I can do it for King?.
Result? Abject Failure.
Sven Goran Erikson puts him as centre back in the England team.
Resut? Debut goal for King.
The sc*mmy kerb-crawler is doing a great job, long may he reign.

To say Spurs is an underachieving club for the past decade is an understatment. They have been an underachieving side for as far as I can remember!
During the late 80s, ironically under David Pleat, they had asembled quite a decent team with Hoddle, Waddle, Clive Allen (who scored 49 goals in one season), Richard Gough, Ray Clemence, Mitchell Thomas… that was probably the strongest Spurs side I had ever withnessed. Yet, they still managed to win nothing. And in their traditional fashion - bottled it up when things matter most.
The older fans probably can still remember that League Cup semi final in 1987, when League Cup still meant something at that time. They took a lead in the first leg at Highbury, expanded their lead to 2-0 in agg. in the second leg at White Hart Lane. Cocky as they were, their public announcer actually advising their fans how to book tickets for the League Cup final in Wembley during the half time!
Our team was basically filled with a bunch of unknown young players who coming from the Arsenal youth rank. They were fired up by what Spurs had done, and came out the second half levelled the score 2-2 and sent the match into replay, again, at White Hart Lane.
Spurs once again took the lead at the replay match, probably thought they were not going to blow it AGAIN right? Well, as i said, they just have a “tradition” on bottle things up when it matters (just look at how they blew away their 3 goals lead Vs Man City this season). Once again we equalized with 10 mins to go. And in the final minute of the match, David Rocastle hit a match-winner past Ray Clemence to send us to Wembley! Absoultely fantasy football stuff!
That was probably the turning point of Arsenal’s fortune and laid the foundation for today. We went on to beat Liverpool (once again, one-nil down, two-one up, and broke Ian Rush’s lengendary when-he-scores-Liverpool-never-lose magic spell) in the final and won our first trophy under George Graham.
Poor Clive Allen (an ex-Arsenal who NEVER played for Arsenal) scored a sensational 49 goals in that season yet still ending up winning none. From then on, apart from a brief Gazza era, Spurs had been going downhill all the way.

funny, i’ve lived in the US for 17yrs now and due to the expat community and guys i play ball with, i’ll admit i have gained an affinity for the yidscum. just ‘cos i have friends here from N17. no other reason, and we both agree that there would be very little in common should we have met back home. but this artical just sums up the futility of their situation and their mindset. i read the whole posting and just couldnt help myself from laughing. they’re shite!! have been for as long as i can remember, even when the year ended in 1. they show absolutley no resolve, no spine and shocking self esteem (or lack thereof) that the highlight of their season is a draw against us so we postpone the win until we’re at home to brum is fekin hilarious!!. they deserve relegation and wallowing in a morass of self pity for the rest of eternity. i cant even watch the game with them sun ‘cos theyre gonna be locked in a dark room listening to it on teh web vs watching it live. as they say down here in the carolinas “bless their hearts”

Finally reading through the Spurs Message board makes me want to run outside in joy, praising The Arsenal at the top of my lungs. I can’t imagine going through what those sorry bastards are going through. I fully expected to hear gunshots by the end of it.
I don’t know what kind of devastating plague would have to hit the training ground to make The Arsenal drop points at WHL, but let’s hope we are able to finally kill off these poor suffering scabs before they start eating each other. Let’s clinch and continue onward to record breaking history. No own goal nonsense. Its not necessary. I fully expect, after reading that, that any Totts left after Sunday’s thrashing will be rushing home to turn on the gas.
Gads, what bleakness.
