I think I’ve already metioned other circumstances of how important the rivalry is but my mum reminded me of this on the phone today and I it just sums evrything up.

My dad wasn’t bothered coz he’s not really a big footy supporter, and if he was i’td be west ham. My mum’s family had been my Arsenal influence. Mum grew up in Islington and stood on north bank with my uncle, her sisters and my nan and grandad she wasnt fussed too much anymore and it was my uncle that was the real influence as he was only 13 years older than me and more like a brother than uncle...

In a continuing effort to keep all Arsenal America readers up to date, G. Rex reaches his big, green, fuzzy (especially for a reptile) paw into the mountain of mail to answer selected questions…

Alright, the first one is from Alex “A-Rod” R., from The Bronx, New York. He writes:

Dear G. Rex:
I just moved recently and am having a difficult time adjusting to my new environs. Any advice?
Quizzically, A-Rod

A - if I may call you that, A - please give it a little time. I got this note last fall from this guy “Rio F.”...

I understand how those non-UK ?born Gooners may not harbour the same hatred for sperz as others, and after nearly 3 years in the US I?ll admit its easier to loathe more ?credible? rivals such as manure, but its easy to forget the history and intensity of the hatred and jealousy of those from the ?lane,? especially their nauseating ?fans.? Now, anyone who has been to shite hart lane on derby day has seen those who have been ?let out for the day? kicking anyone in red and white up and down the seven sisters road, and this rivalry of course goes back to when the Arse moved from south London, indeed...

It would appear that a great many who enter this site are not from America but from across the pond. Interested in seeing what we Americans and Canadians think of English football, they may be surprised to see that, I for one, don’t harbor a great deal of contempt for Spurs. I’ve never met a Spurs fan; that may have something to do with it. I’ve met all too many ManUtd “fans” and have grown to seriously dislike that club. But Spurs, they have never been much of a threat. So, what I say in this preview has little to do with contempt and more to do with reality. Spurs...

I just went on a Spurs Message Board to see what that they think about the game. Here are some excerpts from a candid post…

Our chances next week

xzander writes “Just to test the water and gauge opinion….

Next week, Spurs will play Arsenal. Arsenal are about to win the title. They’ve chosen a passionate, driven manager, stuck with him, and supported him, both financially and in the boardroom....

Here is a hypothetical situation, it’s the last weekend of the season, we’ve already won the league and our unbeaten run continues and we are home to Leicester City. They are in the third relegation spot, one point behind the sc*m who are away to relegated Wolves.

Our game kicks-off a couple of minutes late due to crowd congestion. Arsene gives a run-out to a couple of players who need the right number of games to qualify for a winners medal.

The sc*m get a draw against Wolves and our game is goalless as Leicester win a corner in inury time. The ball flies into the...

Just heard next Sunday will be a public holiday according to the opposition’s Office. PA and Reuters Wireless reports. The First Post and maybe more to come on Sunday

Football eh? A beautiful game or what? What a way to win the league, at WHL.

This season might be the best season in terms of being a Gooner. As things stand if we win on Sunday the title will be ours again. Also the Scams will be going down with just 3 points above Leeds with some hard games to come.

Don?t you just love to be a Gunner? Forget the FA and CL cup.

We are the best by far
Oh!!!...

After celebrating the annihilation of Leeds yesterday, I just want to wish every U.S based Gooner on here a very HAPPY SCUM DAY 43 for Saturday:)

For those of you who don’t know SCUM DAY is the annual celebration that all Arsenal fans commemerate on April 17th every year as it was on that date in 1961 when those poor wannabes from N17 last won the league championship.

Let’s hope this weekend we’ll be rejoicing not only in our 5-0 rout over Leeds and SCUM DAY 43, but also that Chelsea and Manure slip up against Everton and Portsmouth respectively, so that we can...

Four goals by Thierry Henry (plus one from SuperBob) highlighted this encounter. A shame we didn’t suit up some of our younger players.

Who’s next? Bring ‘em on!

OK, well. The Easter weekend games have certainly eased my earlier bad feelings and thoughts that I was pretty adamant about last week following The Week of Disaster. Yes, I’ll agree, nothing like an Henry hat trick against Liverpool to alleviate one’s fears!

In hindsight, I suppose it was kinda silly to be THAT worried. However, I still think that we need to learn from the debacle of last week, and not give in QUITE so easily when it *really* counts in the Champions League, or the FA Cup, or in any other competitions. (And dammit, Celtic’s out of the UEFA Cup too!...
