AC Milan ‘keeper Christian Abbiati has told skysports that his agent has been talking with Arsenal. This raises the question, what should we do with Lehmann and his many costly blunders?
I would love your input, should we keep Lehmann, should Arsenal sell him, and if they sell him,who to buy?

I don’t remember MANY costly blunders… I think he played well for alot of the season. He made some mistakes. What goalie hasn’t? Continuity & Stability at the back come from consistently having the same GOOD keeper. Not changing every season and at every whim. If Arsene doens’t think Jens is the long term answer, surely he will be out.
I think he had a good year overall. Costly error v. Chelsea… yes. That aside. Solid.

Lehmann has done well, there’s been the odd mistake but its been his first season with Arsenal and he has to be given the benefit of the doubt. Abbiati is a good goalkeeper but I don’t feel he’s very solid he likes to punch the ball even when its completely unnecessary and he hasn’t been playing regular football. Unless we are going to sign Stipe Pletikosa, Sebastien Frey or a Wenger wonder then there is no point in replacing a goal keeper who has been consistently the best in the premier league this season

My first reaction is “Don’t we have four keepers already?” With Wenger’s penchant for developing young talent, he may be thinking to work in Graham Stack a little more next year and hold onto Lehmann. We’re not exactly weak between the sticks with Lehmann actually saving the streak a few times in the last few games.
Its a touchy call. Lehmann will get a well-deserved medal and possibly his name in history as both being the steady keeper for an unbeaten team who let in the least amount of goals, yet he’s STILL a question. Why? The MO for German keepers has traditionally been one of arrogance, and it has hurt us. This is not a technique question, but one of personality…which is much harder to fix. You just KNOW he’ll be shoving someone next season, or making a risky choice that may hurt us in a big game. At the same time, he’ll delight us with a few saves and removing the threat of 95% of the crosses in the box. Hmmm.
The ridiculous scars he’s caused, however, heal?albeit slowly. I think Wenger will keep him on, but he’s probably going to be going elsewhere sometime during the season if he doesn’t keep his cool.

So he?s got a problem with his temperament, he?s a little eccentric and he?s made the odd mistake. So what?
Name me a keeper not like that? We are on the verge of going all season unbeaten in the league with the lowest goals against figure in the league. What more do fans want.
For a tall keeper he gets down superbly, he?s confident with crosses and only punches when he really needs to. If you study keepers over the years, punching the ball clear is something that is common amongst foreign keepers. English keepers tend not to.
It?s his FIRST season in English football and like any outfield player he needs time to adjust. But looking at his record, he didn?t need it.
WELL DONE SON

Lehmann will be number one next season. Wenger has said so himself. We hear baseless claims all the time so lets wait and see. Having said that I still think Lehmann is a loose canon, and no he has made more than one mistake, except that we couldn’t recover in the Chelsea game. What about the Spurs, Leeds, Lokomotiv and two prior Chelsea games?

Who has played better than Lehmann this year? We were supposed to be weak at the back before the season started… and we have the best defensive record in the EPL. That says alot.

I’m not a big fan of the way Lehmann acts, but as far as his play he’s pretty solid with a mistake here and there. Yes they have haapened in crucial games, but I think he has what it takes to stay in the role. He just need to keep his mouth shut about Oliver Kahn or any other person and he needs to keep his cool. Would we have beat Spurs if he didn’t blow it, Yes, but we didn’t lose either. He just need s to work on those few things, but will be the number one keeper for Arsenal next year.
