Postings On Arsenal America Manchester City Preview
Sep 20

My family and I will vist US for 3 week from 24 sep. 2004. I have been a gunners fan for more than 25 years, and would hate to miss the Arsenal games on my visit to The Western US.

So please help me anyone. Where can I see the following matches:

25 sep. - Manchester C - Arsenal (I’m in San Francisco, near Union Square)
2 oct. - Arsenal - Charlton (I’m in LA, near DisneyLand)

Gunners forever…

For San Fran try Mad Dog in the Fog ( 415.626.7279):

Naggi should have some suggestions as well if he sees this post; as for Orange County, it’s a bit more difficult unless you want to drive up to Studio City or Santa Monica but there is the British Dominion Social Club in Garden Grove:

    hope this gets you started.

The Mad Dog on lower Haight St. will have the game at noon (tape delayed). Email me at naggi.asmar@gmail.com and I will forward you directions on how to get there on the Mun metroi.

If you don’t mind trekking up the 405 and 101 freeways, you can watch those games at a Gooner friendly pub in Studio City called The Fox & Hounds. It’s located at 11100 Ventura Blvd, Studio City. The owner Gary Richards is a big Arsenal fan and he always gets the Gunners games on be it EPL, FA Cup or Champions League. You can get more info by going to http://www.thefoxandhounds.com or calling their hotline at (818)763-7976.

I’ve been to another place a few times in Venice…The ***** and Bull? Big joint, with lots of TV’s. Don’t remember the address, but its rather prominantly located on a major thoroughfare. Maybe someone can fill it in.

Bartender I met there, Dave, is an Everton fan, but he’s pretty cool and has no problem lending you a smoke.

  5. arsenalfootballclub Says:

yes, it’s right on PCH in Santa Monica. A google search of The C O C K and Bull should give you the address.

Guys don’t forget Rio is back and made a huge difference yesterday and glad to report Sol is also back. And to all those ppl saying United are dead I dont think so. Not after one game but if you asked me Chelsea or United I will go for United as the team I fear most. That is me.

  7. stag133 Says:

I have been saying all along that ONE PLAYER in the back 4 can make a big difference. Rio will help their defense ALOT.

  8. ScottyUS Says:

So that’s how you get around the filter, huh? ;^P

I had no idea what was going on. Strange.

I saw the game, and I have to be honest: ManU were inspired, well, at least Ronaldo2 was. But for all the excitement and bluster of the announcers, stating that a new tide had come in, I have to say much of what I saw seemed to sparkle only in stark contrast to what has been seen from their stuttering start. If you don’t mark an international player like Silvestre, he should find the goal every time.

I may have been high, but to me Liverpool were flat, and Kewell was crap. Gerrard got hurt before he could make an impact, and from then on it was more or less a midfield kickabout. Yes, Ruud was unlucky on a few finishes, and the pitch was soaked, but the most I saw that was different was a slightly tighter back four and some newly installed belief. Of course, that will serve them well, but I can’t see them doing that four games in ten days.

As a SF resident (former) having just moved to Orlando the best place for gunners is the Mad DOg in the FOg. It has tons of Gooners and a fantastic atmoshpere when there are big games. I know most of the Gooners there, like Cliff, Tom, Ian and Mario and Chris, If you want me to I can tell them that you are gonna come and the’ll be sure to make u feel welcome. Also they have a football hotline which tells you what time the games are at the pub and if there is a cover charge. it is updated atleast twice weekly. Its 415-442-7994. If you want any more information just e-mail me at arsenal365@hotmail.com.

    Cheers

Just curious to know what this has to do with helping this Danish guy find somewhere to watch Arsenal games out here?

  12. Galaxy_Gooner Says:

And in what respect has this got to do with helping someone watch Arsenal on the telly out here?

  13. Galaxy_Gooner Says:

And how is this related to helping a Danish Gooner find somewhere to watch Arsenal out here?

  14. Freyja Says:

Not much, that’s plain to see. But let’s not get too upset about a bit of side commentary. I see that this site is necessarily attempting to keep a tight grip on subject matter but let’s not get overzealous here and start slamming folks for getting a little off topic.

    **it happens.

  15. ScottyUS Says:

I did my part in helping, I think. If I’ve taxed our Dutch friend here unduly by tricking him into reading a bit of follow up to Stagg’s commentary, then I apologize to him.

  16. ScottyUS Says:

What Rick was talking about, I thought, were “articles”. He didn’t want anyone to get too offended if they attempted to submit something that he thought had little to do with The Arsenal and didn’t make the page. Oddly enough, and telling I think, the commentary under the article he posted ended up containing a veritable cornucopia of thoughts about The Gunners.

So now we’re being policed in our comments by ArseAm vigilantes. Wonderful.
