Exclusive Interview with Bobby McMahon of Fox Sports World Why we’re so damned good!
Sep 24

Caught up with Frank Simek the other day. Here’s what he had to say about recent events…

On the departure of Coach Eddie N.: “It came as a surprise to me that Eddie left. I knew he was Hughes’ right hand man, but I never really thought Eddie would leave for Blackburn. All of us reserves were sad to see him go. He was a really good coach, and a nice guy, always looking to help you on and off the field. Obviously this was something he couldn’t turn down, and all us players respect that. I’m sure he’ll do a good job up there, it’s a great oppurtunity for him. Neill Banfield has taken over from Eddie, who we all know well, so it should work out well.”

On the great start the Reserve team has had:

“Anyway, as you probably know we’ve started the reserve season on fire, and I’ve been very pleased with my performances so far. Danny’s (American Karvassiyoon) been playing really well too.”

Thanks Frank, as always best of luck from Arsenal America.

frank simek seems to captain the reserve team a lot, he must be a very good player. too bad i never got the chance to see him playing. only know from arsenal.com that he is sort of Adams type with tough tackling attribute and command of area. can anybody tell me what kind of player he is?

I have seen Frank play a few times and he reminds me of a young Colin Hendry of Blackburn fame but a lot more mobile. He is good in the air and strong in the tackle. He has good distribution and he has struck up a good understanding with Senderos.
The question is will he now take it to the next level with Arsenal or do what a number of past players like Sidwell and Hall?s have done and moved on to find 1st team football. I would personally like to see him loaned out to another club to see how he handles himself.
