The 3-horse race latest Representing the ArseAm Party.

Shortly after the Leeds game in 2003 that set us off on our way to a historic run, one of my cousins gave me an Arsenal key ring as a present.. Another of my buddies, a manure fan, gave me this other key ring, and I linked the 2 of them up? What is the relevance of this, you ask? Well, I was fooling around with it 2 days before the manure match and it slipped and broke!!! And lo and behold, we lost our unbeaten run! Funnily enough, it was the part given by my manure buddy that broke?

During match days, I sit in this one particular seat and my seating position varies with the state of the game (i.e. - how well we?re doing).. Hell I even have a dress code to follow!!

Now I?m not sure why I?m superstitious when it comes to the Arsenal because I?m definitely not the most religious guy around, nor do I believe in stuff like the Friday the 13th crap.. But for some reason, I just can?t risk it when the gunners are playing.

Ps- I got another charm now… He?s this feng shui (spelling???) statue and I call him Bob. He made his debut against City and helped when in dire need against Southampton. Way to go Bob?

    Not superstitious at all.

Wenger has all bases covered and nothing could motivate the team more to bigger things than last weekends injustices.

Ummm… I can be superstitious about some things… like the RedSox… I did tell the Gods of Sport they could take the Arsenal unbeaten run, in return for the World Series for Sox… and apparently they took the deal!!
I think many of us have our little things we do to “help” our teams win!

I’m not superstitious at all, it’s just a coincidence that I’ve been wearing the same pants (held up by a belt after the button fell off), shorts (sown in at the waistband to stop them falling down), socks (ridiculously lose), boots (with a glued on sole), and an arsenal-shirt every time I’ve seen the boys play for the last two and a half year. Don’t believe the hype, superstition sucks.

I’ve gotten better over the years. But I used to be afraid that if I didn’t pull on one of my 11 Arsenal shirts (the number is NOT a coincidence) and the spotlight over the mantle above the fireplace wasn’t illuminating my meticulous, Arsenal shrine (a buffalo skull with two scarves?one red, one blue and yellow?a red Arsenal hat with the old crest perched atop its bony head, and a ball under it with a hat stretched around it with a new crest), and they lost, it was my fault. Its like those poor folks who play “their numbers” for every lotto. If they don’t for one week, and their numbers come up, its straight-jacket city.

Now, since I’ve matured over the last few years, if I’m home watching I don’t have to wear a shirt. Only the mantle has to be lit. And I have to drink from my Arsenal pint glass.

    I think I’ve come a long way.

  5. Andez Says:

Yup, I make sure no sex before match!!

  6. miranda Says:

Treachery, Stag! Trading Arsenal for the Sox, I can barely believe it! Are you planning to trade them again by any chance in the near future - like a victory tomorrow for . . . er, Kerry perhaps?

  7. stag133 Says:

    I thought about that Miranda~
but I decided that the RedSox winning the World Series was more important than the election!
as there will be ALOT of folks praying to all sorts of Gods…. that Kerry wins tomorrow!

  8. teabag Says:

I avoid sex during the match. The people sitting behind me said it put them off their hot dogs.

  9. Andez Says:

    haha, good one!

Very very quiet for the past 2 days. Is Rick that superstitious he is keeping things quiet maybe before the elections. Nope I’m not superstitious about a thing but where is Rick? I hope he is fine.

Anyway Good Morning America I know today is a monster huge big day and looking forward to the big one and not talking about Arsenal here. Hope you all vote before the game. I believe if you don’t the chance of Arsenal drawing is huge..oops.

May the best man win but if you asked me I will say go Kerry.

  11. kelvin Says:

Oh for the old days of the North Bank!!

  12. miranda Says:

Yeah, quite a few people here will be praying a bit. Would I trade an Arsenal win against Pana tonight for Kerry? Yup, suppose so - I have some sense of what’s important! - but maybe just maybe the gods/goddesses will oblige us with both. Please, gods, goddesses, please. . .

  13. ScottyUS Says:

I starting to get a little worried…Rick has been conspicuously absent. Hope he’s alright.

  14. miranda Says:

What do reckon a draw means for Kerry? A recount perhaps, loadsa money for lawyers?

  15. miranda Says:

So we’re going to have to do it the hard way as ever. Winning away to PSV looks like a must, while Chelsea can now rest players until the next round. Glad brilliant Barca did it at least. Don’t blame Cygan, but I’d be interested to know what people think went wrong. Is it simply that we’re not used to playing against solid defences and go flakey as soon as we encounter a bit of serious opposition?

  16. stag133 Says:

It means despite all our offensive talents, we can’t put the ball in the ocean from the pier in a Champions League match!!!!!!!

It means when you fail to convert opportunities in the CL… the teams you are playing make you pay… even if you are so far superior to them that its silly.

It means that when your scoring machine doesn’t do it AGAIN… that you are liable to have own-goals and blunders that cost you a match, because shit happens…

It doesn’t happen when you score when you have a gaping net or an excellent chance…. and you continue to not put the game away!

WOW… is the Arsenal America Match versus Rosenberg important now!!!!!! thats a positive! I think?!

  17. stag133 Says:

I could care less about Barca! I hope they lose 10 in a row!

We don’t put away our chances in the Champions League… simple.
We have all these great players and offensive talents, and we don’t finish in this tourney. When you do that against teams in the CL… you usually are going to pay the price. Because even though we are far superior to Pana…. own goals and stuff tends to happen when you allow the game to be close when it shouldn’t be.

Not Cygans fault that our scorers can’t score! Reyes apparently missed a golden chance… he hasn’t scored in so long its painful… again…
I guess this makes our CL game during our visit QUITE important!

  18. miranda Says:

Just noticed that in the Guardian fantasy comp there’s a team called ‘Vote John Kerry’ - it has suddenly appeared in the top 50 so must have come on in leaps and bounds during last few days. Omen?

  19. Andez Says:

    Kerry definitely.

  20. Andez Says:

Let’s take it as an one point gain, rather than two points drop… we could have lost had the POAK player not skying the penalty…

btw, the penalty was yet another bad defending of the set-pieces…
