Nice Reuters article about our man Thierry.
I just had to put this up, not to foster an excuses-making session or to give a…
ALEX FERGUSON has aimed a volley [wait, didn't they just kick Palace's a**? He couldn't be bored already!]* at Premiership referees by claiming his side have been victimised ever since their [mauling] victory over Arsenal [they can't even look at a slice of pizza without the urge...

Arsenal.com is reporting that as soon as American Frankie Simek returned from loan to QPR he found fellow American Danny Karbassiyoon being sent off to Ipswich.
Ed. Note - Sure, we would have all liked to see the honour go to TH, but these things aren’t exactly a science. To choose between Ronaldinho and Thierry is a bit like choosing between Adriana Lima and Tyra Banks…
Thierry Henry should have been last year’s FIFA Player of the Year and I was sure he would get it this year…it went to Ronaldinho.

Thanks to Naggi for sending us a photo of the ArsenalAmerica banner that hung in the Mad Dog in the Fog pub in San Francicso this week. It attracted quite a bit of attention and got a few new people asking questions about ArsenalAmerica who hadn’t heard of the group before.
Stay tuned for more pub showings as it makes it way back across the country after its successful roadtrip to Highbury this month (the banner has been over for 4 wins, 1 draw, and no losses).

Ed. Note - Sorry no post-match reviews earlier, but a 1-nil victory against a crap side doesn’t inspire. Here’s a rather harsh look at the current situation…
I?ve always had this nagging feeling that we should?ve let Patrick move on to Spain as we all know clearly he was thinking about money mainly and a change of environment and maybe more medals. However his explanation, after the deal fell off, that his heart is with Arsenal and that?s the sole reason for not leaving is just a load of crap. Any Arsenal fan who doesn?t agree with this is actually cheating himself....

The ArsenalAmerica banner, fresh off a trip to London, is going to be in San Francisco this weekend for the Portsmouth game. It’s been airing out for a few days (imagine if you stayed in a pub all week) and should be hanging (we hope) in “Mad Dog in the Fog” for the Sunday game against Portsmouth. We haven’t got the go yet from the bar, but we’re hopeful they’ll let it go up for this game (it’s a huge flag)
The banner, paid by contributions from ArsenalAmerica members, will be making its way back across the US from San Francisco to many points...

The draw for round two of the Champions League has just come out and we’re playing our old friends from the 2000-01 season Bayern Munich.
Back then we were clearly second best, with one draw and one 1-0 defeat in the group stage. Good news is that they are not the team they were, whilst this time WE are the champions.
Expect plenty of verbal before this one, and, despite the inevitable clanger from Lehmann (probably off a Kahn goal kick) we should get through.
Now THIS is a proper European competition! Four absolutely massive ties, plus Inter v. the defending champs.
Arsenal v. Bayern Munich. Hmmm, not a walk in the park, but I don’t feel BM are some unstoppable behemoth either. Arsenal have the advantage of playing the second leg at home, so the key will be to grab a goal or two in the away leg.
Full fixture list:
Real Madrid v Juventus
Porto v Internazionale
Barcelona v Chelsea
Werder Bremen v Lyon
Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen
PSV Eindhoven v Monaco
Manchester United v AC Milan

Have just heard on the radio that UEFA are proposing to limit the number of foreign players in Champions League teams to 50 percent. Though any player who has been with his club for more than three years can count as ‘home-grown’, this is still very, very bad news. David Dein is said to be going bananas.
Reyes, Cesc, Senderos, van Persie, Clichy, Flamini, Quincy, Lupoli, Eboue . . . all our bright young hopes for the future: will they now want to go home? It would be hard to blame them, especially Cesc, Reyes and Lupoli, since the chances of Arsenal doing well in the CL...
