Pass Vs Shoot Something worth getting involved in…
Jan 27

Allright, time to stir up another lively debate….

It will soon be time for the players[PFA] to vote on their team of the season. Last season practically all of our team could have made it and most of them did.

Being honest and trying to accept the fact that not everyone is against us, who will get in this year? My opinion is TH[obviously] and Ashley Cole, on the bubble but probably not Sol and Freddie. Other certainties,Cech,Lampard,Terry,Robben and Gerrard.Young player of the year will be Robben with Cesc second.

I think this also sheds some light on why the league table looks like it does, Chelsea have had some luck but also their core players have had the type of season that Sol,PV and Pires had for us last year.

Now I know that this sort of post, one that does not reek of blind faith, is usually construed by some posters as ‘a lack of football knowledge’ but I feel that my 34 years of support coupled with the fact that I actually know where Highbury is[unlike some of my critics], gives me the right to pose the question.

Not sure how eyou figure Robben will get anything. He has hardly played enough matches to factor into awards.

He has played a total of 7 full matches (90 mins. on the pitch), and a total of 7 in which he subbed on or was subbed off.

If he continues at his current level, at season’s end he’d be a good candidate. However, there’s alot of games to go and alot of players could step it up.

Funny stuff at the end there, elloarfur. S’why I love this site.

Its a bit early to be naming names for sure, but all indications point solidly at your suggestions, IMO, with the possible addition of Damien Duff, Milan Baros, CP’s Johnson, maybe Drogba if he continues to play more than Gudjohnsen. Ferdinand probably.

Sadly, lots of Blue for sure. Manager, too.

Player of the Year award I guess will depend on the team’s achievment in the end, we all known trophy helps.

Personally, my vote, at the time being, would go to either Henry, Cech, Robben or Gerrard. If Chelsea is really going to win the league, I won’t bet against Robben go on to win it. Without any disrespect to our own players, but if I had to be honest, I think Robben has made a hugh IMPACT towoards Chelsea’s clause so far. Chelsea played well without him, but even better with him. He’s skillful, quick and much stronger than Reyes or C.Ronaldo. His presence allows Chelsea to shift from the defensive 4-4-2 to a more attacking 4-5-1 cum 4-3-3 [while having possessions], all a sudden the 1-0 to Cheslea side started to get the goals flowing and now is the second top scoring team in the Premiership. That is an IMPACT player.

The player of the year is voted on during January and covers the whole of 2004, not 2004-5 season as many people believe.

With that in mind I think it will be between Frank Lampard and TH. Unfortunately young player will probably go to Wayne Rooney cos of his influence with England.

ps. As for knowing where Highbury is, remember to try and by as much stadium memorabilia with “N5″, cos when we move to the other side of the tracks we will become “N7″

Are you sure about this Kevin? I believe both the PFA and writers’ Player of the Year awards are voted near the end of the season. Otherwise, if the vote is based on the year 2004 [Jan to Dec]’s performance, i don’t see any sense to wait till the end of the season to announce the winners.
