With the advent of premiership broadcast in India, I have become an ardent fan of Arsenal. I think the brand of football Arsenal currently plays ranks with the best in the world alongwith Barcelona. In their full flurry Arsenal seem so perfect.
But as this year’s European Competition has so shockingly shown us, great football doesn’t gurantee wins.
Also, this season has thrown some interesting facts. Firstly, Gilberto is important (I never thought I would say this, but my mistake)!! He always defended well and has good enough vision for a secondary midfielder. This season...

ArseAm favorite Frank Simek joins Bournemouth on a one-month loan. You get the feeling this summer could be big for Frank. Either he cements himself as an option at Arsenal, or it may be time to move on and earn a spot in someone else’s first team. Clearly he’s gone about as far as he can in the Arsenal reserves. He’s been captain of that side and gone out on loan a couple of times. So, can he beat out Pascal Cygan for a place on the bench next year? That might be tough. Regardless, we wish him all the best.

When Nicolas Anelka told Arsene Wenger he wanted to leave Highbury Le Boss fought tooth and nail to keep him, but when he finally gave in he made sure he got paid.
Till now I think this was Wenger’s biggest regret, he’s been quoted many times as saying his big plan was to pair Le Sulk with Thierry Henry. That unfortnately remains a ‘what might have been’ thought.
Losing Reyes to Real Madrid will be even harder for Wenger to swallow.

News: The board of the Premiership have decided this evening to charge Chelsea, Mourhino and Cole of a breach of the League’s rules.
Ashley Cole, brilliant left back and was a joy for every Arsenal fan to watch for the last couple of years. What has happened to him is sad, maybe it’s his fault for illegally using Chelski to threaten for an increase, or the board’s fault for not offering him decent wages after the club constantly praised him for sometime to the extent that the fans nicknamed him Ashley “the world’s best left back” Cole.

I read a recent comment saying that we have now got nothing to play for, and that the F.A. Cup didn’t mean anything to him [he would rather Newcastle to win it 'cos we had won it many times that it's getting bored]…
NOTHING TO PLAY FOR???

Curious about who Arsene Wenger is going to buy with his ‘war chest’ in the summer?
Well here it is in his own words on Arsenal.com:
?Everybody wants me to buy players,? he said. ?But if you look at the names we had out at Blackburn and the quality of the young players we had then it is both a very big chance and a very big problem.
?There was no Ljungberg, Campbell, Henry, Edu, Gilberto, Pires and Bergkamp. If you add all those to our young players it makes for a very interesting mixture.
?We have to find the right way to build a great team. To put [new]...

As an American and a relative newcomer to the international football scene, I have been troubled over the last few years by the disturbing trend of laissez-faire contracts. Maybe this is old news to some of you, but it makes me ill.

“Wenger confident Reyes will succeed:
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed his troubled star Jose Antonio Reyes to fulfil his potential with the Gunners…’For me he is coming back to his best. He shows that in training and he was very mobile and dangerous at Blackburn.’”- culled from Soccernet.com 22 March 2005
This one is for all those out there who say that Reyes should be allowed to leave Arsenal. That he should be sold to Real Madrid.

Ed. Note - We kind of went over this last week, but since it’s a slow news week…
Well this is a question i will let you debate upon. Personally i think he should have stayed, i liked him and even though was thirty, he brought something to Arsenal that he is bringing with Lyon and that is experience and goals. I think Dennis not flying and Freddie getting injured has had an effect on our season, maybe not Freddie as mauch but certainly Dennis in europe. We could have done with Wiltord.
p.s I really miss Ray Parlour, not only was he Arsenal but he was a typical gooner.
