OK so we cut the lead on Chelsea down to 11 points, and people are still earmarking them as champions elect because they need only eight points from their remaining games to clinch the title. After seeing who they have left to play I still reckon we can pip them to the title if we can continue our recent improved form. Right now the table reads as thus….
……………….PL………………….PTS
1. CHELSEA…..32 …………………..81
2. ARSENAL…..32…………………..70
Compared to them, Arsenal have the easier run-in………
ARSENAL……………………………….CHELSEA
Home……………………………………Home
Tottenham………………………………Arsenal
Everton………………………………….Charlton
Liverpool ………………………………..Fulham
Away…………………………………….Away
Chelsea………………………………….Bolton
WBA……………………………………..Man Utd
Birmingham………………………………Newcastle
I think it’s possible for us to pick up maximum points from our remaining games which would give us 89 points. I can see Chelsea picking up three points against both Charlton and Fulham. but the other four games are against sides who are fighting for European places themselves. Bolton are no pushovers anymore. Man United will be fighting tooth and nail to try and overtake us and Newcastle on their day are a match for anyone. So if they just pick up six points we can pip them to the championship by two points………
WHAT THE FINAL TABLE COULD LOOK LIKE
…………………….PL………..PTS
1. ARSENAL………..38…………89
2. CHELSEA……….. 38………..87

good analysis, but I still don’t see it happen

Here’s my take..pretty conservative
Arsenal vs Spurs (Arsenal)
Arsenal vs Everton(tight game but Arsenal by one goal)
Arsenal vs Liverpool (Draw)
Chelsea vs Arsenal (Arsenal..I’m sticking my headout for this one..come on lads)
WBA vs Arsenal (Draw)
Birmingham vs Arsenal (Arsenal)
So Arsenal will have 84 points
Chelsea vs Arsenal (Loss)
Chelsea vs Charlton (Loss)
Chelsea vs Fulham( Chelsea)
Bolton vs Chelsea (Chelsea by one goal)
Man Utd vs Chelsea (Loss)
Newcastle vs Chelsea (Loss)
Chelsea to have 87 points.
We might lose by three.But if in the event of Chelsea losing to Bolton, we better pray hard our goal difference is more than them.
Anyway, win one game at a time.Focus on ourselves and not on them .Do our usual stuff, then look up six games later.

Let’s beat Chelsea in our next game and go from there. In principle it’s possible, but in practice…I just don’t see it.
April 11th, 2005 at 2:30 pm
exactly
baby steps
April 11th, 2005 at 2:42 pm
Sure it’s still possible to win the title but I think it’s too late for it. Not enough games.
April 11th, 2005 at 2:42 pm
One thing is for sure, if we do beat Chelsea to the title, it would be the GREATEST COME BACK in the Premiership race of ALL TIME.
April 11th, 2005 at 3:45 pm
It made me smile for one second.
Yes, lets beat Chelsea at Home and then I might think about seeing some flip flops in the positions.
One thing though, when the FA will make their decision about Chelsea tapping Cole ? This might change a lot !
If Arsenal win all the remaining games, or even they tied with liverpool on the way or tied with Chelsea and win the FA Cup, it will be a good season. We had fun watching it and following it …
Good luck for the gunners !

Arsenal can only get 88 points not 89.

Can you pass me some of the stuff that you are smoking?!
April 11th, 2005 at 5:32 pm
More lunatic posting. This place makes me laugh. I don’t even think Arsenal are good enough to beat Chelsea at the moment, I think we’ll lose that match. I don’t think we’ll beat Tottenham either. And we don’t have a great record against Liverpool over the years. I’m fully expecting Campbell’s continued absence to ruin our end of season party.
April 11th, 2005 at 6:41 pm
My bad….you’re right. Still it can be done
April 11th, 2005 at 6:43 pm
Sure gunner4life:)lol
I know there’s a lot of if’s and but’s to this scenario, but if we can get take three points at the Kremlin (Stamford Bridge) next week who knows how that could affect Moanwhingo and his overrated tossers.
April 11th, 2005 at 6:44 pm
That’s right Danny. Keep looking on the positive side of things mate.

Personally, I refuse to give up the Premiership title UNTIL WE LOSE IT (i.e. mathematically eliminated). As crazy as this sounds, it is possible for us to come back. With the distraction of CL, Chelsea play us & Charlton at home, @ManURE, @Bolton, & @Newcastle and they are not all guaranteed points. I don’t think it’s likely, but neither was the Chelski draw or the Norwich win.
YEAH, I’M CRAZY! CRAZY LIKE A FOX!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t think I’ve heard any player, or AW for that matter, give up on the title either. As a matter of fact….
“Thierry Henry has not yet conceded the title but admits it would be ?more than amazing? if Arsenal were to overhaul Chelsea with just six Premiership games to play.”
?There is still some hope there for the title,? said Henry. ?We know it is in the hands of Chelsea but we will try and grab what we can grab. To grab first place right now would be more than amazing.”
(ARSENAL.COM)
Great to see the club fight to the end…. sad to see some of the ‘Gooners’ already give up!
NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER GIVE UP!
COME ON ARSENAL!
April 11th, 2005 at 8:14 pm
No surprise there Danny.
While I don’t think its realistic that we can/will win the league, Chelsea shows ZERO signs of slipping up 4 times in 6 matches, I also think we CAN beat Chelsea, and we will likely not lose another match all season.
It is too late, but its not ANYTHING to do with us.
We have the 2nd highest point total in our HISTORY to this point. So we’ve acttually had a good season. Chelsea just hasn’t slipped up.
We will STUFF them on April 20th… it just won’t matter much. Tottenham beating us at home? Thats laughable.
April 11th, 2005 at 11:14 pm
Something actually makes you laugh?
Yeah, you are right.
I think that with our pathetic so called manager and a f_ck all squad we will have to battle hard to finish just within the top 10 next campaign. Mid table obscurity is where we belong, yeah.
No, lets talk about this campaign, see….. if we loose all remaining games, and we bloody well should with the f_ck all manager & squad, lets see, we should finish with just 70 pts. We will be over taken by …..Manchester United Football Club (citing full name because they have such respectful & wonderful players who cost so little & perform so well week in week out - RVN, Rooney, Smith, Saha, Ronaldo, Klebeson - unlike our bunch of no talent w_nkers! Wouldn’t you trade the entire Arsenal motley crew for the right just to shake hands with Sir Alex Ferguson, the never aging genius?). Oh…. yes, Duncan Ferguson (what astounding talent)and his Everton will definitely surpass us in the standings.
We will end up fourth, just above Liverpool, though we don’t deserve it, because they are a wonderful side as well. We are not even as good as Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (full name again, respect!).
In fact, league standing means absolutely nothing. I don’t care if you finish above Liverpopol, or Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, or for that matter West Brom, Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester United Football Club, Chelsea or whoever, as long as you have the bunch of imbeciles that we have in Arsenal, we are not better than those who are below us in standing!
April 12th, 2005 at 6:02 am
Now you’re being stupid. Why can’t this place get the balance right? I have to give negative reactions, because most of your stories are based on unsubstantiated rumours and daft dreams.
April 12th, 2005 at 6:04 am
Chelsea will wrap it up with home wins at hopeless Charlton & Fulham. Arsenal aren’t playing well enough to win all 6 ganmes. Lets concentrate on holding off Man Utd, that IS achievable.
April 12th, 2005 at 10:34 am
The tital race is out of our reach and unless a miracle happens and I mean a miracle! Its not our primal concern. The main thing at the moment is to finish above Manure at the moment because that is a more realistic situation and I would rather be playing in the champs league than having to qualify for it. Do you see where I’m coming from!!!!
April 12th, 2005 at 3:57 pm
I think Danny just likes winding us up.
I think it’s funny that some ArseAmers find this site too pessimistic, while others find it too optomistic. Can’t please everyone I suppose…
April 12th, 2005 at 4:26 pm
That’s odd. I was going to say it was too indifferent.
April 12th, 2005 at 5:00 pm
It would take a MASSIVE collapse for that to happen. I don’t think it will especially when Lampard, Terry, Cole have career years and Drogba keeps getting those goals. These guys are hungry so I can’t see it happening even if they are still in the Champions League. I will be quite satisfied with a second place and a FA Cup win considering we missed Gilberto and Edu pretty much all year and our suspect D (no Campbell). I would be disappointed with no trophies this season but considering the obstacles the team faced this year, I’m proud of them . . . Ambramovich has poured hundreds of millions of GBP in Chelsea to get the team in a position to take the EPL and CL this year . . . basically they have 2 “A” teams to win their 1st Championship title in what . . . 50 years or so? Arsenal’s done it year after year under Wenger. Wenger’s not perfect but he has done wonders for the club.
I thought I signed in when I made the above comment. Oh well.
I luv your optimism but I am afraid the goose is cooked unfortunately.
