Alex Fergusson is perhaps the most over rated coach in the league right now.
His achievements were in the last century. The past few years he has just been living of them.
I mean he has had a tremendous hold on the league and had a lot of money and power backing him up.
Imagine, what is the need to get a youth system going or the need to discover a new player. You just buy a good player, from the umpteen leagues existing in Europe and then you pair them up with the existing one’s.Success is mostly guaranteed!!
And whenever there is the need to spruce things up,you just bully the player,or the team,or the rival team..or even the refree. He always reminds me of the same psycho teacher from the video of ‘Another brick in the wall’.
Thankfully, his era is past us now.I mean now his buying power is not the biggest, and we will soon close that gap.He also now has to contend with glazer, chelsea and perhaps even his own supporters.I believe his failings are just going to brought to light now. With more teams getting better all the time, his sad ass coaching is gonna come to the fore.
And besides, Wenger is accustomed to handling bullies and does well aganist them.Spare a thought for Alex?Mourinho with more money and power then him, will kick his ass.A dose of his own medicine!!
I do not think he will be able to behave like that with Wenger.Too smart for him!!
I am sure there are a lot of manure supporters who are accustomed to the dominance of the league.but did they ever manage to go through a league unbeaten??And manu was always feared, but never respected.
I mean now here is a team, which spent less money then Birmingham city, tottenham and is still second in the league and in the Fa cup Final. The english press, seems to forget achievements so easily. And maybe we share the blame too.I mean 50 yrs from now, when we will be old ,we will tell it to our kids, that i saw that season.I saw the ‘UNBEATABLES’.
Press destroys heroes,as easily they create them. The same goalkeeper, who had not lost a game in perhaps 40 matches plus, was now perhaps the worst in the league. And now look at his performance, when he has good defenders backing him up.
I really believe, that Fergusson is not even close to Wenger. He is just a european cup away to put the matter beyond doubt,to everyone. But i will worship him nevertheless!!
Just hope, that since we are accustomed to so much success…our hunger for more..does not make us blind to the achievements of the past. There are bound to be High’s and Low’s in this,as with everything in life.
Let’s us bide our time.Maybe till the new stadium…and then you have few more wenger year’s…we are bound to come on top.And this time round undisputed champions all over europe.

Well the 1-0 loss to Everton with 2 Manure players sent off made me happier than our draw against Chel$ki. What goes around comes around. What his scums did to us in the first OT game ended our undefeated run and started our mid-season slump. Now to beat them in the FA cup final would be the icing on the cake.

Now I appreciate someone posting something other than the usual nonsense that we have had around here for sometime[sack Wenger/will we ever win the CL], But this post is ridiculous.
I cannot stand AF but you have to respect the mans achievements. When he took over at Utd they were and had been struggling for years and this after managing to win the league and a european trophy at Aberdeen!
He had the balls and conviction to put in 5 reserve team kids into the first team and went on to dominate the premiership. Justa as no team has ever gone through a season unbeaten, no team has ever done the treble that he achieved and I think if we were honest we would have taken a couple of losses in the league in exchange for the CL and FA cup.
He is unlucky. He has come up against arsene Wenger, the finest alround coach and club manager and now they both have to deal with the fact that Chelsea have added another dimension to football in England with their unlimited spending power.
Whichever team loses the FA cup in May will end the season on a huge down note, especially us as that will be four losses in a season. In my opinion it is probably the challenge of going up against Alex Ferguson that has kept Arsene Wenger motivated to stay at Arsenal when larger clubs have come calling.
He might not be liked but he is respected by everyone in World football.

I don’t always agree with you but I think you have a good point here.
People can hate SAF for wharever reason(s) but you can’t take his records away. As I was watching MOTD yesterday and the guys said it. He is still one of the best managers around even his United team sucks.
Waiting for the day Chelsea Boss or Wenger will hold on to the title and we will take football.
Anyway who cares about United or Chelsea.

Anytime I read these sort of articles I feel some people can’t handle the truth.. What are you on with some of your post.
Alex Fergusson is perhaps the most over rated coach in the league right now.

A Man City fans will not will even write this. Folks let talk football for once.
Press destroys heroes,as easily they create them. The same goalkeeper, who had not lost a game in perhaps 40 matches plus, was now perhaps the worst in the league. And now look at his performance, when he has good defenders backing him up.
You just done what you writing about, the press this and that but you doing the same. Hmmm what is the word for that !!!!!
Let talk football instead of all these crap crazy chat. He said she said. Hate him or Love him leave Chelsea and United at home and support the Arsenal

Cheers. This season with chelsea dominating because of their newfound money has made me respect Utd a little more. They are a rich club because of fantastic support for many years not just the glory years of the last decade. They had the forsight to increase the capacity of Old trafford and despite it being the best stadium in the country it is still one of the cheapest to attend.
Alot of people that post on here have only been watching Arsenal play in the last 10 years which is completely understandable as this is a US site and the games have only been available for that long. However it also means that some people have no idea of the history and traditions of the various clubs. Success is sweet to us because we were boring, boring arsenal for so many years but it must also taste good to Utd fans who remember being relegated to the 2nd division even with the most support and money at the time.
All that being said I still can’t stand the coronation St watching w@nkers and their purple nosed old **AYE CARUMBA**(censored) of a manager.

I agree that AF has to be respected for his achievements, although I wouldn’t give up our unbeaten season for anything. I actually think it’s harder to go a season unbeaten than win the CL.
But he does have a point in that cracks have appeared in Fergies armoury recently, his success of late has required a top no2 beside him, Brian Kidd, Steve McLaren and more Carlos Queiros, when one hasn’t been there United have looked very one-dimensional.
And his transfer spending has also become suspect. Djemba-Djeamba and Bellion are barely good enough for the Premiership, and he handled the Veron situation very badly. You also have to question why he would allegedly blow his entire transfer budget for the summer securing the services of Rooney when he clearly needs to buy a keeper and get fresh legs in most midfield positions. Can u see Keane, Sholes and Giggs sustaining another season-long campaign at their age? Vieira is 28 and Wenger has already got players in at the club to take over from him.
Next season is gonna be very interesting because Liverpool should become genuine title contenders under Benitez, along with ourselves and of course Chel$ki. With United under threat of a takeover from Glazer, another season of not challenging for the title may see the board questioning if he is still the right man for the job at United

FOR ONCE,
I do agree with everybody.
Let’s talk football and what happened last night Russians vs Arsenal and Everton vs Fergie.
The two key events of the night to me are :
1) A 0-0 draw for Arsenal. It’s been a while. I just could even remember our last goalless game.
I’ve got a strange feeling this morning and would have loved to beat them but except the three points nothing could make me more happy than a goallless draw.
especially when you have Senderos, Kolo, Lehman at the back, and Henry, and Freddy out.
2) second event of the night : the two red cards for MAnure key players. Two of those “kids” brought to first team action and trebble winning side.
TWO REDS for a Ferguson’s team in England! For Neville and SCholes ! This is a major event and a key moment in the battle for 2 second and the FA cup.
Finally to give some credits to the post.
Considering the ime (19 years), the money, the history and culture of Manure (CL’s winner 1968), I do think Alex Fergusson is OVER RATED.
1986-2005 : ALex won just CL while PORTO won 2 CL.
Winning the CL is not that BIG DEAL. If it was, then Fergusson underachieved in regards to the ressources and the ressources and comparatively to other “great managers”.
One is more than NOTHING, yes but Wenger’s got FAR LESS TIME (9 YERAS) AND FAR LESS RESSOURCES.
Give him time. He wanted to win his way, PUTTING MORE THAN CL AND POSSIBLY 3 IN A ROW with the most exciting football ever seen.
This is our dream and we to have that dream, to attract young lads like Senderos, Fabregas, Flamini, Quincy, Lupoli, Stokes, Djourou, Clichy, Aliadi?re, and many more coming from acrros all continent.
Wenger will be able to play more than 5 “kids” to win successive CLs.
I think we will be ready in two years.

I just think Fergie’s a d*ck who likes to surround himself with d*cks. Watching them near the pitch is like the WWF…you never know if you’ll get pulled in and punched in the throat. Their fans are d*cks and their media supporters are d*cks. If someone wants to post something negative about him on this site, I think they deserve a beer and a clap on the back.
Maybe its not “football” but this game involves a lot more than the kickabouts.

I feel just the same as you!!
April 21st, 2005 at 10:09 am
I don’t think Ferguson is overrated. He didn’t win all those titles by accident. But that doesn’t stio ne to feel great to see Man Utd get beaten, EVERYTIME!
April 21st, 2005 at 1:56 pm
maybe you do not agree with what i said….but let me just ask you one question….how did you feel when af said that arsenal unbeaten run was a fluke….
you give respect to someone who returns it..

Thanks for the support

It still amazes me sometimes that apparently on this website it’s perfectly acceptable to make jabs at Wenger and question his managerial acumen but to make derisory comments about managers of other teams is met with scorn. Which team do we support, anyway?
In any case, I think that it’s possible to respect what SAF has accomplished in his career and also think that he’s lost the plot in the last couple of years. His “mind games” have gotten more and more desperate sounding, the team he’s put together and his planning for the future seem shoddy… not to mention his arrogance (which, admittedly, is a common trait among managers). I don’t care for him, myself, although I do respect his accomplishments. What has he accomplished recently though?

Oops. This wasn’t meant as a reply specifically to Andez…
