Wenger’s thinking, and my thinking: The Future
Fans may have noticed that Wenger didn’t give Lauren a long contract. Nor did he offer one to Pires or Bergkamp. This is good news. The players above served the team a lot and they may have another year or two at the most. Wenger has already said that if Bergkamp signs a new contract then he does so with the understanding that he may not be a regular and will play less time than he did before.
Pires will be like Bergkamp; offered a one year contract. Lauren got away with a 2 year contract. This all means that these players can, at the most, play one season in the new Emirate Stadium. All this indicates that Wenger is paving the way for the younger generation to claim their places.

Looking ahead to next season
Looking ahead towards next season, it’s pretty sure Arsenal will spend for some new signings during the summer. Nevertheless, the hard fact is no matter how much we are going to spend, we will never out-spend Chelsea. That means – Chelsea will be getting probably even stronger next season around. With already a top notch squad, both with depth and quality, added into Roman’s seemingly unlimited fund, it will be a HUGE challenge for us to gun them down.
Personally, though, I like that. Perhaps I’m from the old school, I always love for being an “underdog”, when nobody gives us a prayer, and then we go out and prove them wrong!
