Arsenal, one of the ELITE teams in the Champions’ League Depth chart
Jun 26

I was born in Finsbury Park, i now have a season ticket in the mighty North bank. Women, work and pretty much everything comes second to Arsenal football club. You all know how close the F.A. cup final was, however sitting there in Cardiff watching the United scum batter our goal I was wondering what was keeping the ball out of the net (apart from jens, kolo and senderos). Now I know it was you guys in America your collective support meant sooo much to our lads and meant big pat vieira could lift our prize. Keep up the good work we will need you for next season when we WILL beat those cheats chelsea on the way to the treble!!!!! COME ON YOU REDS!!!!

James, Let me be the first to say thanks from the Arsenal supporters here in America. I also have no doubt that it was us who helped Freddie leap up and head VanHorseHead’s header away from the net and made Lehmann save Scholes’ penalty. Cheers.

Yeah, it was one of the “save” of the season when Freddie headed VanCheateroy’s header out of the bar, pure instinctively reflex save!

Now there’s a shot of real London cred. Thanks, jamesscotterell!

But now that its out, at the risk of p*ssing off my fellow American Gooners, I might as well divulge how it was actually done. A collectively drawn or expelled breath from due West can wreak havoc on the accuracy of a strike. Of course, its all in the timing. Luckily, the conditions over the mid-Atlantic ridge were ideal.

On a side note, I think its interesting, and perhaps telling, how Chelsea’s offers are being rejected over and over again by Europe’s elite. In a predictably carte blanche effort, they’ve gone for Essien, Eto’o, Schevvy, Trez, Adriano and more that I’m sure I’m missing, and all have politely declined or been nudged out of range per offer. Nothing’s been settled on the Shaun Wright Phillips deal, either. So they’ve picked up Del Horno, and Spurtz’ sporting director. Methinks their swooper might be broken.

Actually Scotty, its kinda simple. Big teams with major ambitions do NOT sell their best players.
    (See: Patrick Vieira)
So, Eto’o, Schevvy, Trez… they aren’t going anywhere, there teams are among the elite in the world, they don’t care how much money Chelsea have!
Essien… well, he’s probably the best player on the Lyon team, a team that has done EXTREMELY well in Ligue 1, and very well in the CL as well. So if Chelsea want him, they are going to have to pay a crazy fee… so Lyon can restock with about 3 new players and still not spend all the cash they get.

The teams Chelsea are trying to poach players from are BUYING teams, not selling teams. Thats why Arsenal shouldn’t sell Vieira.

Good points. Add their offers to the ever-growing list of arrogant moves. It also reeks of a “Galactico” approach, which surprises me, frankly. Like Wenger who seeks players that fit closely into a very specific style, Mourinho’s vision is pretty solid. Though they are all prolific goal scorers except Essien.

And now they’ve been warned off Torres. But they have picked up a 14 year old fr4om Reading. Hmmm…we’re looking at Brazilians and Chelsea are looking to build up the academy. Hope he footnotes Wenger.
