[ed. note - I still like the Clash as well, although I'm partial to "Rudy Can't Fail"]

With that in mind, I put in my two cents about the current team and try to distinguish the wheat from the chaff.

My chosen theme for this exercise…

SHOULD HE STAY OR SHOULD GO…

First Up: Keepers
Lehmann: Jens has been solid when the defence has been solid in front of him, even excellent. He is excellent at coming off his line and even to outside the area when needed as is one of the best keepers in that regard in England if not the World, but when the defence...

With the (unconfirmed) news that any deal for Alexander Hleb is “on hold” due to discussions over the possible acquisition of Shaun Wright-Phillips from Manchester City, I got the old brain matter in gear and thought about what possible changes we could make to the team in order for our 4 pronged assault for 2005/2006?

Here’s my finding:

I stumbled onto this site a short time ago, and as an avid Arsenal fan I was very impressed. I have only been following the team seriously for the last two years (not a bandwagoneer, just someone who got into this whole “football” thing a little late). As my knowledge of Arsenal and football in general grows with each passing day, I have come to a few conclusions.

(Courtesy of the club’s offical site):

Happy Birthday to Patrick Vieira who is 29 today.

Vieira has made more appearances for Arsenal than any other current player, with 406 since joining the Club in 1996. He has also scored 33 goals for the Gunners in those nine seasons.

The French international has won three Premiership titles and four FA Cups during his time at Highbury, including two doubles.

He took over the captaincy from Tony Adams after the former England skipper retired in 2002 and they lifted the FA Cup together that season after beating Chelsea at...

Ok, please understand, this is only the second time we’ve tried something like this. If it sounds like a couple guys in an empty room reading off the website–it is. We’re trying to work this out and see if it will be something you guys would like to listen to.

We’re learning–there is some static and feedback and we’re working on making it better. Please bear with us.

Greetings from an old ?new guy.? I?ve been enjoying this site for a while now and thought I?d share some thoughts. First of all, thanks to the ArsenalAmerica contributors who keep me coming back to the site. Particularly to those who don?t get wrapped up in the scepticism and maintain some balance (thanks Andez!).

Having read a lot of negativity lately, I thought I?d try to provide a different perspective. The Wenger era is by far the most successful, entertaining and enjoyable in the history of the club (most any club, for that matter)!

With the English football season only weeks away Arsenal`s srtike force is one court case away from imploding. Henry has been suggesting for a couple of years now that he is unhappy with the quality of the supporting cast up front and just when there was hope on the horizon in the shape R.V.P, it all starts heading towards the fan!

Who are the starting forwards? El Tel & Reyes? To me it seems Jose would jump at the opportunity of returning to Spain and both the big guns over there have him on their ‘to buy’ list, one half hearted bid could totally unsettle him.

Bergy`s...

Doubtless things will look different come the beginning of August but, on the basis of last season, I’d go for these as top four:

1. Us
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. ManU

Summer must be a nightmare time for the press writers, especially when there is no major tournament going on. Imagine that: they got paid for reporting news in the football world. Yet there is no major competition worth reporting, or at least nobody cares to read about what’s going on in a competiton like the Confederation Cup. Worse still, the majority of players are out on holiday. So what you are going to do if you are a football writer? You can’t hand a blank sheet of paper to your boss when the deadline comes, right?

Thus, you have all the transfer speculation flying...

Here I am sitting back as though I am a manager and taking a look at the way arsenal is doing…
Domestically; pretty damn good, I know it sounds like the same crap old all over again but hold on.

In general Arsenal is hardly challenged domestically and yet in europe they seize to exist, even though they have the added advantage of being top seeded hence placed in rather fair groups…
My point is that what causes this inability to perform? Is it the overexpectancy in contrast to the continual dominance in England or is it just being tactically challenged.
