Arsenal look set to win this year’s Amsterdam tournament hosted by Ajax. I (as I’m sure many fellow Gunners) watched the 2 games we played this weekend: first against, Ajax, a 1-0 victory for the Gunners, and 2nd, a 2-1 victory ove Porto. Some thoughts on these two matches:

So it appears we have a bad summer (in terms of transfer activity), we lost a key player, adding just one new face to the squad. But there is something we have to understand - it’s not Arsenal and Wenger are not TRYING to buy a new player. It’s just that we couldn’t find a right deal, or in the Beast’s case, some players are not keen joining us. So what else can Wenger do? If anyone has played the Championship Manager series, the transfer dealing there is rather easy, just throw whatever you got trying to land the players you fancy. If it doesn’t work out and...

Thanks to new boy Alexander Hleb, and 18 year old Arturo Lupoli, Arsenal ran out 1-0 winners over hosts Ajax at their opening match of the Amsterdam Tournament today.

It took 87 minutes of waiting before the goal, but it was worth it just to see Hleb juke the Ajax defense and send a pin-point through ball to Lupoli who drove it home.

A nice win, as it puts the Gunners in a postion to win the tournament when they...

I’ve created a website and put a LOT of effort and hours into it. I want to share it with other passionate football fans. It’s at http://footballclubs.dyndns.org/footballclubs/

Please feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. I’m really trying to get the word out about it. The purpose of the site is to map out exactly where each England football club’s stadium is at. There is a main England map along with other maps for cities/areas with multiple clubs. I think it could be really...

Looks like our banner is clocking up some mileage in Austria as it was clearly seen behind one of goals at the Utrecht game yesterday.

I came across this ad in one of those Skymall airline shopping catalogs, for a silly pen scanner that helps slow readers. Their model –a very thick-looking young Mancunian…

A couple of Arsenal Americans sound off on the absurdity that is the Baptista transfer saga:

pirate says:

I wrote a while back that Baptista would be the ideal sigining for us - strong, quick, could help us change our style of play, etc. Now, however, like the rest of you, I am bored to tears of this transfer saga, most of all because of the noises coming from Julio Baptista himself.

I appreciate he wants to get his passport to increase his mobility and that he, in fact, wants go and warm the bench at Madrid or Barcelona - sure, as a forward, he’d be mad to...

My my…..this site’s banner is certainly making its way around Austria this week. After spotting it behind Justin Hoyte in one of the pix from the Weiz game on Arsenal.com last week, I then saw it on the highlights of the Ritzing game that the Fox Sports World Report showed last night. It was near the corner flag at the right hand corner of the pitch. Wonder where it will be for Tuesday’s game against FC Utrecht?

Fellow Gooners,

I am from India, and cannot see Arsenal play in any of the friendlies in Austria and Amsterdam.

There is one thing which I would very much like to know. Is Ljungberg being substituted by Bentley in these friendlies? In the course of his performances last season with Norwich, I was impressed by Bentley’s ability. I think Bentley has it in him to be a real success this year.

Also, how about a swoop for Cahill? Apparently,he has rejected a new contract at Everton. Do you all think he has it in him to fill Vieira’s boots?

Any comments...
