We are Arsenal Football Club… NOT Real London Vieira, The Captaincy, Baptista and Next Season
Jul 18

Is anybody else afraid that we may get caught out if FIFA puts through the rule of having X number of your first teamers to be from the league’s country?

I’m looking at the first team and I see…. Sol, Cole, Hoyte, Bentley, Ryan Smith, Ryan Garry, and I think according to the rule, Aliadiere and Quincy would count because they joined us before he was 18??

Liverpool may also be in trouble if this rule gets pushed through.

Just a thought? What’re your’s?

I’m sure the club are giving it all the thought necessary; Ryan Smith, Ryan Garry, Hoyte, Cole, etc.

Plus the definition of “home grown” is suitably vague, such that people like Fab and Flamini slip through the net.

Do you really think we are dumb enough not to give this serious thought?

    Chelski, on the other hand……

I can’t believe that Dein/Wenger & Co. are not aware of the rule and what they need to do. LeBoss is not going to mess that up. No way.

Ditto the above comments, and adding that the rule seems not to just keep English players in the game, but encourages clubs to pick them yooooung and develop them. I think they need 3 years in a home soil academy to qualify. I like the rule, as it makes moneybag coaches and boards work a little for their checkbook championships.

yes, dc, the rule is that young players need to have been at the club for three years. they don’t necessarily have to be english. we are definitely in a good position with respect to that caveat. cesc, sendy, clichy, flamini, eboue, djourou….
    we are in good shape.
as for the rest, there isn’t another team in the prem that has the young talent we have. we will be fine, they will be hurting.
again, this is an example of wenger’s astute mangerial skills. now, if he can only take us past the quarters of the champs league……

Well that’s good. I wasn’t sure of the exact rules and whether we were ok or not. You only hear about Arsenal and their foreigners. But if you’re quite sure of the rules then that’s good.
