2005 Roadtrip to Highbury Announced Roadtrip full
Sep 06

For the most part I liked Spike. In fact, when I was working for the Yankees in ‘96 I had a chance to work with him during a weekend. Nice guy.

I’ve really liked some of his movies, and then add the fact that he was clearly a Gooner and I’m in his camp.

Then I read this.

So now he’s a big Inter fan because they have cool colors? I thought this guy was a true sports fan. It would be one thing if he just started following football and needed a reason to pick a team, we’ve all done that. But he’s already got a team.

C’mon Spike, I thought you were better than that.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Spike and Thierry Henry are apparently pretty good friends. And, Spike has been to more than a few Arsenal matches at Highbury.

I am a BIG Spike Lee fan. Great director. Good Actor. And he is friends with Thierry.
He might like Inter in Serie A… hell, I like Juventus now because Paddy’s there!
But he is a GOONER. I’ve seen him in Gunners gear… WHY NOT TRY AND INTERVIEW HIM FOR ARSENAL AMERICA?
Then we can REALLY find out if he is an Arsenal Supporter.

I’m not a big Spike Lee fan. He doesnt make the kind of movies that I like to watch.
    MalcolmX was good though.

He definitely needs a shrink if he doesn’t already have one . . . If he’s really a Gooner (and this behavior seriously calls that into question), he’s got to be the first Gooner in history to be season tickets at Inter . . . maybe the first Gooner ever to buy season tix at any other team . . . what a frickin weirdo! but like everyone else has already said, he knows how to make a heck of a good movie!

“The Nerazzurri colors are the most elegant in football”

Has he seen that alternate uniform with the horizontal stripes? :-)

To me, Spike is still an art student with a big budget. His movies are dramatized diatribes that always seem to fall flat when trying to engage the audience emotionally. But anyway…

…my guess is he’ll be spending a lot of time in Milan for either work of model related issues, and therefore sought out some football action. And can you blame him for wanting to watch Adriano? I’d take a few of those tix, Spike.

No doubt he’s still a Gooner, as the article doesn’t really imply he’s switched camps. But how many here see this as evidence that Henry will go to Inter next season? C’mon, you know you’re out there. ;^)

Er, Rick, I’m nowhere near the stature of Spike Lee in, well, ANYTHING, but I’ve also said on a couple of occassions I like Celtic as well as Arsenal, but consider meself a Gunner first.

In fact, I daresay that a fair few of us here have “second teams” we all like in addition to SUPPORTING Arsenal.

  8. Clarkey Says:

Yeah really eh. I used to support Celtic, was even a member of a Celtic Supporters Club, but I’ve not been a member since the Treble year, and haven’t been since the UEFA Cup loss to Porto. Are you a member of a CSC, Geoff?

I support Wigan and Barcelona too. If I had Spike’s money I’d buy season tickets to all three, why not?
