Is three enough? Invincibles to also rans in a few easy steps…

Note - Due to a total lack of evidence suggesting Tottenham Hotspur ever actually had any half decent players, let alone superstars, this article had to be withdrawn as it would have left the author open to lawsuits for being in breach of the ‘Trades Discription Act’.

    (GK) Pat Jennings/Ray Clemence - (D) Steven Carr - Richard Gough - Sol Campbell - Gary Stevens - (M) David Ginola - Chris Waddle - Glenn Hoddle - Paul Gascogine/Villa - (F) Gary Lineker - Teddy Sheringham

for the past 20 years, IMO.

Never really seen them having any decent full backs. But other than that, they did have some decent players over the years, despite winning little.

If we played Totteringham tomorrow on a neutral pitch…
I wouldn’t bet YOUR money we could beat them right now.

I think Ashley Cole has been reading this site… he sounds like he is repeating my mantra:

    FROM SOCCERNET:

Anxious Cole fears ‘tough year’ for Gunners

Ashley Cole has conceded that Arsenal have failed to find an adequate replacement for Patrick Vieira after the Gunners’ second defeat of the season left Arsene Wenger’s side already looking like also-rans in the title race.

A month into the campaign and Arsenal are nine points behind Chelsea and looking as though the sale of Vieira may prove a decisive one - Saturday’s defeat at the Riverside was the first time in eight Premiership meetings they had not beaten Middlesbrough.

Cole’s admission may have been a statement of the obvious but against a Middlesbrough side with several injury problems Arsenal’s lack of a midfielder with a dominant edge to complement their intricate passing was starkly apparent.

Cole said after the match: ‘We’ve lost key players, but we’ve only really bought [Alexander] Hleb in.

‘We’ve lost Patrick, who was our main inspiration in midfield and we’ve only got one in. There’s nothing we can do about it - it’s nothing to do with me - and we’ve just got to do what we can with the squad we’ve got.’

Cole was also scathing about the team’s approach going forward, saying: ‘We dominated for the first 30 minutes, but we overelaborated and every time we got near the box, it was if we were looking for that extra turn or bit of skill when we could have just passed or shot.

‘Sometimes you need to be more direct. It’s very very frustrating.

‘If you look at the history of the championship, this is very early to have lost two games, so it’s going to be very hard from now.

‘It’s going to be tougher this year because I don’t reckon we can afford to lose any more than three or four times.

‘If we lose more than four, then it’s going to be a struggle because teams are getting better now and sides like Liverpool and Newcastle have added to their squads, which is going to make it even tougher for us.’

Yes, well I am almost sick of talking about it. Everyone and his dog knows what’s wrong with Arsenal - except Arsene Wenger.

The player are concerned, it looks like even they are losing faith with the manager - and once you lose the dressing room your days are basically numbered.

I really dont want to criticise Wenger any more than I already have done. I warned of all this about a year ago, and everyone thought I was being stupid.

Funny how the likes of Curtismo and Florida Gunner are too scared to show their faces now that I have been proved right. Trouble is, I wish I was wrong and they were right.

I am just going to have to try and enjoy the season whilst accepting that it’s a non starter - I haven’t felt that way for a long long time.

conspiracy theory….Henrys not injured, he is sitting out the European games to allow a massive overseas transfer in January!

sure we looked weak, and we are not as good as we were 2 years ago.
Repeating the same sentance again about not finding a replacement for Veirra has no meaning.

If Paddy stayed he would have not saved us from the 2 defeats. There is only one Veirra … you cant create another Veirra. We have good players, yes we miss players in some spots, but I think the players that we have are good.

And who dont like young players, so you deny that Rooney is good enough to play first 11 in Man Utd and England. Also Peter Check is young even he is the best keeper in the EPL. So you ask not play him.

I hope this is an early wake up call that will allow Arsenal ( as a team) to win every game they play from now.

  10. love_Gunners Says:

    Well well well well.

Henry is gone for 4. Looking at the teams and the 4 PL games we have during his time off I can say 12 points but I also thinks we are now another average team without him. We might come home with all 12 points or half or nothing. I will wait and see.

Did anyone watch Vieira and Juventus? Or did anyone heard his comments after the game - Reality setting in -

Did anyone read Cole’s comments - Another Reality setting in..

Folks Reality is setting in but Wenger and some few folks are living in a world of denial.

You heard it here first. Don’t be surprise if Henry don’t play in the CL before X’mas and we sell me off in January.

You can call me whatever you want but this is another reality. If we loss another 2 games whiles he is out don’t expect to see him signing b4 January as Wenger hopes.

    You guys are right.
    Its the Good Ship Lollipop.
We are on course. Wenger got it right. Lets be positive about how good we are. Everything is wonderful. I think we will win 30 games this season. We are fantastic out there.

I am not sure there is ANYTHING I have seen to make me think everything is great… but I will blindly follow and say nothing negative.
10-0 to the Arsenal is my prediction for the next 3 matches.

  19. Clarkey Says:

It would at least have a smaller turning radius than some of ours…

  20. Andez Says:

Stag, exactly opposite. It’s NOT everything is wonderful right now, in fact everything is seemingly AWFUL. that’s WHEN the team need our support most.

  21. Anonymous Says:

One thing that bothers me here, that u see 2 sides, one that is always negative about our results and other that is very positive.
A side that chears for Wenger even if we loose against Wigan or against Thun … and other side still hates Wenger even we beat Chelsea or Man U away.
AW is just a human, can do something right and also can do something wrong. As a popular manager, he has to avoid being weak after losing or he will lose the confedence from the players, fans and the media.
So what, Liverpool lost many games last year, struggled every away game, but still advanced to the CL and won the CL. Rafa is not bad and he is not the best too.

IF there is money issue in Arsenal, we all undertsand why … If Henry does not want to stay, then why would we force him to stay. He treid playing in the same team were Veirra is now ( Juvi) but he failed. So would he do better in Barca or with Ac Milan. I dont think so … Herny will stay.

I think losing now is much better than losing in March, at least it could be wake up slap …at least we have January transfer window to fix any errors we face.

    - As I might noticed that some players are concerend about ready Arsenal blogs or forums, we should be nutral, give fair criticisme and also praise when its fair to do so.

  23. Andez Says:

fareski, you are very SPOT ON here!!

One problem is, the way i see it - the endless debates here have seemed to take its toll on most of the regulars here.

Personally, AW’s basic football theory against what i always believe - DEFENCE WINS GAME. and i do agree with folks like LoveG that our teams are getting a little too soft. but the thing is I read too often ppl going all the way to go ONE SIDED critising AW’s (seemingly) EVERY decision. It makes me feel very unfair to a manager who have done a lot for us.

As a result, perhaps i didn’t even realize it myself, subconseciously i have been defending almost every single one of AW’s decision.

I believe the same applies on many regulars here. Some folks are not really that positive/ or negative towards our team’s prospect as they sounded like. But because of the fact whenever you make a statment, it seems it would soon be followed with harsh rough bombardment of criticism. When at the receiving end of being called “idoit”, “rubbish” stuffs like that, one would naturally hold on even more firmly to his view - even though he may not 100% believe it himself. Eventually it start to turn into a personal thing.

Sometimes i wanna pull myself out of all these and attempt to talk about something else. So did other writers like NBG’s this particular post “Spurs all time XI”. But it appears it really doesn’t matter what is the topic of the post, the same debate and arguement of the same old thing we been talking about for the whole summer would soon flood the comment column, had nothing to do with the stuffs the original writers wrote about.

The whole situation is not very healthy. I cannot get myself to imagine the sceniro if we lose another game or two….

Under such a circumstance, any attempt to try to see things from a more objective angle is gonna be extremely difficult.

I agree, Andez. In fact, I predict that ArseAm will go into a rebuilding year and be relegated to a .net. Or worse, .biz.

As I am one who sees the end coming, and rate my posting to be world class, I’m already arbitrating my move to Inter.it. I’ve enjoyed my time here at ArseAm, but the results of the trophy poll have helped me make my final decision. Adriano, here I come.

While the language will be a problem at first, I prefer the weather.
