…to be announced on January 11, 2006 on this website.
We have gotten the GO signal from Arsenal for our first SPRING roadtrip. Although we’ve taken over four official (and countless unofficial) trips over the years, this year we’re trying for a second official roadtrip in the Spring, something we’ve never done before due to schedules and fixture congestion.
We are not trying to be jerks, it is just that we want to give everyone proper warning to check this site on January 11 to get the details and to sign up. Which means–don’t e-mail me now. It will be ignored. We want to give everyone a chance to get over to Highbury and have a very limited number of tickets.
With that said, there are a few different rules for a Spring trip, and this, our last trip before they close Highbury.
* Premium members only.
* Preference given to those who haven’t been to Highbury before, and then those who haven’t been this year.
* Wives, friends, colleagues ARE NOT invited. This trip is for hardcore fans only (of course, if your wife is more hardcore than you, that’s a different story). Seriously–we have a limited number of tickets and you taking someone who isn’t really committed means someone who is really committed cannot go.
* Open only to US fans flying over for the game (sorry expats).
* Advanced deposits will be required to secure your spot (I’m tired of fronting ?4,000 for two months while I wait for people to pay).
Oh, and the most important rule–you must be FLEXIBLE in your schedule. There is a 50-50 chance that ANY game in the Spring can be moved due to fixture congestion. If you are the type that buys non-refundable tickets 6 weeks in advance, then you might be in for a shock (and we’re sorry, but we need VERY flexible travelers). There is a very real chance you could eat your airline tickets and any other expenses–BE WARNED.
See you on January 11th…

I may be missing something. I have been an Arsenal America member since its inception, however, I don’t fully understand what a Premium Member is, please elucidate. Secondly I am a Canadian citizen with a Canadian passport and a member of Arsenal America as stated since inception and in fact one of the very early members which helped to get Arsenal America launched. I don’t qualify for the roadtrip??????

On the right hand side of the main page is a way to become a “Premium” member. Basically, you send us $3.65 American. It’s required for hep with tickets and to be eligible for our giveaways. We didn’t want to do it, but Arsenal requires we have so many paid members (to make it kind of official).
As for “the Canadian Question”–we were chartered many years ago as the US and Canadian supporters group. There is now an official Arsenal Canada club, but we are still allowed to accept Canadian members (though for help with specific tickets to specific games, that is usually handled through Arsenal Canada). I don’t have much more info on them, but I think google might provide.

No doubt, it can be a tricky proposition.
I passed thru London both going to Africa, and coming back from Africa, with the hope of catching matches on BOTH days in London…
(did one day lay-overs each way)
BOTH matches were changed to different dates, and I didn’t see any Arsenal match!
There is always that chance / risk.

I have asked Rick to get two tickets for me, (a premium ArsenalAmerica member, of course) for a certain date in Spring. There’s a chance that this date is the same as the one you will announce on the 11th. If so, what is the best way for me to get tickets, you think? Rick says he put me in the diary (thanks, your efforts are truly appreciated), but I’m a little worried that the roadtrip will bump me. I plan on taking my father, a soccer fan for sure, but not a gooner as of yet. Hopefully, your date will be different, or other tickets could still be gotten (since I’ve been this year once, and my Dad isn’t the hardcore fan that some people’s wives will be….) Any thoughts?
Ah well, all in good team support anyway.
