Now, I’m sicked of the sight of Jose Mourinho. And I honestly can’t see how “special” he is for him to achieve what he has achieved given the money available for him in the transfer market. As one Premiership manager once said (I forgot who he is, but I remember he’s an English coach) - with all those money, a taxi driver in London could do a good job with Chelsea.

Having said that, we have to give the credit to the self-proclaimed “Special One” for injecting such an amazing discipline into his mega millions squad. Everyone of them works...

I am the most optimist of optimists and most of you know that judging from my posts. But I suppose even for a guy like me its time to face up to some certain facts:

FACT: Chelsea were superior to Arsenal in almost all departments
FACT: Arsenal have a host of injury problems
FACT: Chelsea easily outmuscled the Arsenal midfield
FACT: The Arsenal backline were outpaced by the Chelsea attack
FACT: The Chelsea defense plays as a unit with no nonsense defending
FACT: Essien is a very solid “tree trunk” of a player but deserved a red
FACT: Arsenal...

Right. Almost to the halfway point of the season and the Arsenal sit in 8th place. It’s pretty clear at this point that this team, as currently constituted is not positioned to win consistently enough to challenge for the league. Maybe they can run a hot hand of luck to a Cup final, we’ll see in the Spring.

I’m not an expert, so I’m not going to pretend I am one. Here are some things I’ve been wondering about:

Ok, you can’t make a leopard change its spots, but I’m just not seeing any adjustments made out there. Yes, I know they are Chelsea,...

Arsenal 0 Chelsea 2, was anyone surprised? After so many seasons of expecting magical comebacks (a-la Kanu) from the brink of defeat and acheiving many, this season I watch the game like the majority of other fans and anticipate the worst after we go behind to the top teams.

So instead of focusing on the negatives let’s look at the positives. I thought Lehmann looked good and made some great stops, he was totally without blame and at this point I would be happy if he continued next season in goal. The back line faired pretty well for a make shift defence, except of course Ralph’s...

While it would have been nice to get a soft touch like Rangers, I’m pretty happy that we’ve drawn a disorganised and ill-disciplined team with a midfield line-up playing nearly as badly as ours. Thank god we avoided Bayern Munich.

The way I see it, we have a decent chance against Real - hopefully Ronaldo will be unfit - they’ll let us play our football and I fancy our chances against their defence. They are undoubtedly saying the same things about us.

Watching the match against Wigan, I envisioned Mourinho setting up a similiar strategy against the Gunners. Lined up in a 4-5-1, Crespo as the lone stiker, implement a patient, possession oriented gameplan. Play a game of keep away and keep the Gunners from getting the ball and playing their style. Forsake the concept of the “long ball” and look to score on set pieces.

Chelsea set up with 4 fullbacks, who seemed to stay in one place and never moved past half. They set Essien in front and behind the midfielders. Though lined up as a midfielder himself, Essien looked like a...

I am making the fairly safe assumption that we will be busy in the January window, considering we have lost more times so far this season than we did over the last 2 seasons combined.

Hopefully Wenger sees the clear weakness in our midfield and buys appropriately- but who does he buy? Ideally Vieira has a dramatic change of heart, seeing his beloved Arsenal lacking bite in the middle of the park and begs Wenger to bring him back to London and performs the rest of the season(and his career) like he did circa 1998.

While I may agree with Mike’s sentiments, I unfortunately don’t think Arsenal, or its fans, are capable of unleashing Hell. If you were to create an ‘unleashing spectrum’ with Girl Scouts on one end and Turkish football fans on the other, The Arsenal would fall pretty close to the middle.

Who on this team is capable of unleashing Hell? The only guy in my opinion is Lauren, a truly scary MFer though also a very classy guy who plays hard, but not nasty. The rest of the players, whether I like them (Senderos, van Persie, Cesc) or not (Sol, Reyes) are skill guys.

When...

While the temptation is high to slag off our boys for three consecutive crap performances, the opposite is what’s needed. Sunday’s match against Chelksi is still left to be played. If there was ever a time to turn Highbury into Ali Sami Yen, it’s this match. Loud as hell anti-Chelski chants, “Moanwhingo is a wanker” being a good starter. It is time for a siege mentality for both the team, and the supporters. This match has “defining moment” all over it.

In four Champions League meeting between Chelsea and Liverpool, these two of the Premiership’s biggest teams managed to score ONE goal between them. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe their tactics are EFFECTIVE. Defence wins game, as I always believe. And their results both in the Europe and domestic fronts have proved that with their defence-oriented tactic, both of them will be a major force for years to come.

I have a vision: within the next decade, all the top sides of the Premiership will be employing foreign managers. They will be adopting a cautious, result-oriented...
