Note: Sorry for this negativity, but this is cause I am concerned about Arsenal. I am just trying to understand what is going on.
I am not writing this after our defeat to Everton or even our ?Naive? Carling Cup exit, I am saying this based on some stories and indication I saw since the last couple of months from the past season.
1- Edu : Why would someone like Edu leaves a teams that has been winning at least silver wear every season, and he was also playing very often. Arsenal has the money to offer him a bit more salary. Buying another Mid would cost Arsenal more than the 20...

After a miserable season so far, I feel that Arsenal have to let go of four players to improve in the long run.
1. Dennis Bergkamp: He is a legend and my all-time favourite player. Why, then, is he making this list? Because he makes up the numbers. Ask Wenger how many strikers he has and the answer always includes Bergkamp. After he leaves, Wenger can’t say - and we have Bergkamp too. Someone - good or bad, old or young, experienced or raw - will have to replace him. Fortunately, he is retiring at the end of this season and we have signed Adebayor.

I hate to play Bolton! Heard that before, eh? Now it’s compounded by the fact that one goal could send the Gunners home in their only domestic trophy race. I hate to play Bolton!
As I have written about the Wanderers, in the past, so I elected to not bore you with the introductions to players. Instead, I’d like to ramble on about Bolton’s match against ManCity. Fortunate to catch a glimpse of our opponent before the big game; here are my thoughts.
-Bolton lined up in a 4-4-2 but it evolved into a 5-3-2 in no time. The Gunners are sure to see a 4-5-1, though.

So now no longer is the quad on - we have to settle for the treble!!
The loss to Wigan really hurt even if it was a Carling Cup tie that we haven’t taken seriously in years. All of a sudden it becomes an important competition because we are having a bad season!
I made it a point to specifically monitor Senderos’ performance for the game and even though I believe he will come good, he had a nightmare of a game. Slipping all over the place, being out-muscled and out-paced. In some occassions even out-jumped by Roberts who ran circles around him and got his deserved goal...

Lots of comments recently from people who are shocked, shocked!, by the rapid decline of skills shown by Sol Campbell. It’s time for everyone to recognize the reality of the situation:
Sol Campbell is/was a very big, stong athlete. I’m sure he would have been one of those guys who plays several sports very well - American football, rugby, hockey, etc. That however does not make him a great footballer. Sol has benefited, and is now paying the price for being English. Because everyone wanted him to be great, they believed he was. Simply not true. When healthy, and partnered...

Last night’s game was a cracker, and it must be pointed out that we didn’t lose the game and we created the more and better chances. However Wigan, who have proven themselves to be a very good side this season, played a blinder as well, deserved 2 penalites, and didn’t deserve to lose either.
Offensively the passing and fluidity were back, but the finishing was just a bit off. Henry on any other day would have slotted at least one or two of his shots past pollitt into the bottom corner. But more than anyone Henry is allowed an “off-finishing” day (if that...

Only caught the highlights from the Carling Cup match, but you don’t have to be the keenest football scholar to understand what happened.
Remember when Arsenal were winning for fun a couple of years ago? Tremendous team spirit back then. I seem to remember all the players huddling together is a sign of solidarity. Haven’t seen that in a while.
Right now the squad is just a mish-mash of parts due to several factors - injury, age (both young and old), lack of depth/competition for spots. It’s all adding up to poor performance.
While I don’t have anything...

Jason Roberts? goal with 45 seconds left in extra time was enough to send Wigan through to the Carling Cup Final as the semi-final ended 2-2 on aggregate. Thierry Henry scored midway through the second half for Arsenal to send it to extra time, and Robin van Persie scored the Gunners? second, with only seven minutes left in extra time. It should have been enough, but a lapse of concentration by the defense allowed Wigan to score, and that was all she wrote.
It?s sickening really. 45 seconds….

Well,...

It’s been a while since I posted any articles here. I’ve been rather busy trying to find my feet in the world, what with being a new lawyer and all. I have kept up to date, however, and what I’ve been seeing sickens me.
The negativity here has been so thick, you’d need a chainsaw to cut through it. Some members act like they want to see Highbury burn down or something. I just don’t friggin’ get it. In fact, at one point, I was on the verge of resolving never to post here again.
Now, I don’t look at the world through red-tinted glasses....

Ed. Note - Interesting piece here. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with athletes from all different sports (baseball, hockey, football, F1,etc.). It is a real buzzkill when you meet one of these guys and they are prats…
I wrote this on a thread before, but I want to write it again as a post. ‘Cos I really want to find out how many people would share this feeling with me…
I have heard a story: A Chester City fan was invitied to join up with his beloved team on match day. He joined in the dressing room before, during, and after the match. He was eager,...
