The Long and Winding Road

Frustration and disappointment. And that?s just with the season prior to yesterday. As for yesterday, another classic example of going to the mountain top (albeit in Madrid) and then plummeting the depths of the bogy, windy, damp North-West of England. Inept and tepid in the first half; more aggressive but misdirected in the second. I suppose it was somewhat predictable; inevitable even. Given the results thus far and history being a pretty fair indicator of the future we should have seen it coming. And we should also be able to see how the rest of the season plays out. And remember as distressed as everyone was with the defense, our injuries at left back, Sol and the goals we?ve let in, it?s been our lack of scoring that has hurt us this year.

Match Report – Blackburn v Arsenal

Blackburn 1 – 0 Arsenal

Arsenal look good early, then revert back to the crap we’re growing all too familiar with, as an early Pederson goal is enough to give Blackburn all three points. It also sees Rovers leapfrog us on the table.

PS (Just back from Madrid)

Okay some of you got upset by my comment about if you weren’t there, you don’t count. It was aimed at all the Arsenal we’ve travelled with over the years. Unfortunately you did have to be there to understand the comment.

It is an amazing feeling to travel that distance on the off chance of getting a ticket and finding yourself in the same position as old faces from 20-odd years ago. Singing your nuts off amongst the enemy.

One thnig I forgot to mention was that having travelled that far and paid well over the top for a ticket, I missed the goal as I was queuing for the lav along with loads of other Arsenal.

It was funny as in the bowels of the Bernabau we could hear a faint cheer and looked at each other. “Too quiet for Madrid, it had to be us” we all thought. Confirmation soon arrived, cue Arsenal going mental in the gents and the natives wondering what the **** was going on.

It truly was one of the best footballing nights I’ve experienced and as each day passes I remember something else we got up to.

The Bernabau is probably one of the best football stadiums in the world. The thing it really lacks is amenities, i.e. toilets and bars. If they’ had more loos I’d have probably seen TH score. Never mind, such is life.
