Meet the Americans this week at Highbury Arsenal 2 - 0 Juventus
Mar 28

UPDATE: The shirt designs are complete! Based on expressed interest, we’ve placed an initial order of 25 shirts - 5 med, 10 lg, and 5 xxl.

If you intend on playing in the match, you must wear one of these shirts.

Arsenal America member Miriti Murungi’s company designed the shirts, and, the best possible price he could manage was $16 a shirt.

Please send payments to the Arsenal America PayPal account (treasurer@arsenalamerica.com), which we can then turn around to pay Miriti.

Also, if everyone who intends to buy a shirt(s) would please send me an email with the # of shirts you intend to buy and what sizes, I can get a good idea if that initial order will be sufficient.

Thank you.

(10 days to go!)

(original post below fold)

Arsenal America and the Man United Supporters from Big Soccer are joining forces to hold what we hope to be the first of many gatherings. Our inaugural meet up is set to take place the weekend of April 7th-9th (Friday - Sunday), in that toddling town, Chicago.

The schedule is not set in stone, but, here’s a loose agenda to give you some idea of what to expect:

Friday April 7 -
Evening: Informal meet up to drink some beers at an undecided location

Saturday April 8 -
1PM - Full 11v 11 match (plus subs) between Arsenal America and the United supporters at the Astroturf field at Lake Shore Drive and Montrose

Evening: Gathering at a bar/bars TBD

Sunday April 9 -
Morning: Watch the United v Arsenal match at the Globe Pub

More details will be coming soon, so stay tuned. However, what we do need is for folks who are interested in participating in the match to make themselves known and lay claim to their desired positions ASAP. Instead of strips, we’ll be having t-shirts made (yellow for us, red for ManU), which we are still pricing. More on the shirts as soon as it becomes available.

So, if you can make it to Chicago the first weekend in April, want to play in the match, or simply want to hang out with some fellow Gooners (oh, and some Man U supporters too), please respond to this post, or send an email to mikek AT arsenalamerica DOT com.

Thanks, and see you in Chicago!
