OK, In the UK now the subject of diving is the main talking point.

Game after game players are taking dives to win fouls, get players sent off and it is not on.

Arsenal have their own breed of player who seems prone to taking a dive, Pires, Reyes and Fabregas are all known for the diving abilities.

But this is not on. As an Arsenal fan I dont want to watch a game where my players are diving. It is a bad advert for the game and the club I love.

Yes other players and teams are worse but no one wants to stand up against this. The FA dont issue red cards after the events....

I wrote my first ever ArseAm article before our first leg against Madrid…and we won! So I will take that as a sign and write a preview on the Juventus game on Tuesday.

So Juve eh? We all know about them. Strong, tactical, they don’t go out and attack you, they just wait and wear you down, looking for small mistakes and promptly punishing you for it.

Their keeper is back from injury and is massive…one of the best in the world, their defence has experience written all over it. Same for their midfield, experience, foxy and physically strong.

Their team lineup...

Attention all who’ll be at the match against Villa on Saturday. The club has asked for our help:

The 1st April has been designated David Rocastle Day. For those of you who have members coming to the Aston Villa match on that day, we are seeking volunteers to help with a bucket collection for the David Rocastle Trust.

The collectors have to be over 16 years of age and need to be at the Stadium by 1.30 pm. The collection will end in time for them to get to their seats to watch the match.

It...

We beat Real Madrid playing 4-5-1, is that the system to use against Juve or should we revert to 4-4-2? I and most people are expecting us to start with 4-5-1, but should we surprise the old lady and go with 4-4-2?

We beat Real with pace and movement, a brand of football they gave us the time and space to play. Juventus will offer no such invitation, they will be compact and press hard, they are not as susceptible to pace. In contrast to Real, Juventus are very strong down the middle - Buffon, Thuram - Cannavaro, Emerson -Vieira, Trezeguet-Ibrahimovic. It follows that this will make it...

Every time I read speculation about transfers, someone mentions the new UEFA rules and how Wenger must buy English players to ensure that we are set up for the 2007/08 season when they come into effect. But has anyone actually analysed the squad to see the effects of the rule?

Basically, the new UEFA rule states that each team must field eight players (in the 2007/08 season) that have spent three seasons between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one at the academy of the club (four of them may be imported from other clubs in your federation) but there is no nationality restriction. It appears...

Starting Monday, GolTV becomes a must for all Arsenal fans. On March 27 the first installment of Arsenal TV arrives. Check your local listings for exact times, but every Monday they will show a half hour of Arsenal programming with interviews, behind-the-scenes stuff, highlights, etc. Then they’ll have the weekend match, then another half hour of post-match highlights and other goodies. Yes, the match will be a couple of days old, but if Fox didn’t have it, here’s your chance - plus the other programming will be worth watching.

I spoke with the guys at GolTV on Friday...

Portsmouth

By Mr Zog in Uncategorized

Never did I expect to see these words emanate from my keyboard……….”Watch out for Pompey!” All right, maybe that is a bit strong but you must respect their change in attitude and change in results. Pompey come off a true spanking of West Ham, 4-2, and now take their two match winning streak to the Gunners.

Two match winning streak may seem funny but when you consider that they received just one point in the nine matches proceding the Gunners 4-0 win, six points is monstrous. Now Pompey sit just three points from survival, though they need a nine goal differential...

Ozzy’s previous post was interesting, of the discussion of who should we buy in for the next season. Many familiar names were mentioned, players like Nolan, Reo-Coker etc. Who do look impressive, and have been playing well this season.

What I want to point out here - you don’t buy players who we all KNOW.

Why? Because if a player looks good and everybody knows about it, they are going to be EXPENSIVE.

There is a theory that English players are expensive. I think the truth is more like - players who play in a major leagues (EPL, La Liga, Series A) are expensive....

Help a fellow Gooner

By Mr Zog in Uncategorized

(ed. note: received the following email earlier today):

My name is Iain Roberts and I am a third year journalism student (and lifelong Gooner) at the University of Staffordshire in Stoke-on-Trent (UK). As part of my journalism project, I am collating a series of interviews with Arsenal fans from the UK and rest of the world to gather their feelings on the club leaving Highbury after 93 years.

I am looking for people with interesting stories or anecdotes and for people’s fondest memories, not just of Arsenal matches at the stadium, but also of other sporting events that...
