From the looks of it, Wenger seems to be rebuilding his new dream team such that the element of speed in the Arsenal game is taken to the next level - simly put he seems to be redesigning the team to achieve pure, unadulterated speed, for a game so fast the opposition loses the chance for playing a hard game.

And for Plan B he maintains the slower players.

Taking only the younger players into consideration,

Plan A will include van Persie, Walcott, Reyes, Fabregas, Toure, Djourou, Eboue, Clichy, Fran Merida (if signed) in a formation that simply beats the opposition for sheer...

In his post on the Charlton game thread, NL11 made the point that yet again Thierry Henry’s body language to his team mates was poor, and that this might be a sign that he’s ready to leave the club to join Barca. All I can say us that if this is so, Thierry will probably find that he’s made the biggest mistake of his life. Let me explain why:

This Arsenal team is a Thierry Henry vehicle, a platform, a showcase for him to exhibit his skills. To a very large extent the other 10 players on the team are selected according to how well they set the stage for Thierry.

For...

Hey all…
I’m on vacation in Arizona and I’m looking for a place to watch the Juve match next Tuesday in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area.

I’ve been doing a bit of googling and I found the George & Dragon. Have any of you ever been there?

Are there any fellow Gooners out here in the desert?

Cheers!
Lawrence

Arsenal have a week off - great to see. I never thought I’d be actually happy with us not being involved in the FA Cup this year for a change, such has been the injury list that we needed the break to get some more players back and the walking wounded healed by Gary Lewin and his medical staff…..

So as there are no matches how about speculating on some new faces that AW can try and sign or go after and who are NOT established stars….

One came to mind last night while watching West Ham….Nigel Reo-Coker. I feel he is a very mature player and one who will become...

Everyone by now has seen that AFC are getting back to how they used to play. The form they are showing is great.

This week’s football is now focused to the FA Cup 1/4 finals which is great because we are not in them. Our players are having a rest, they have more time to run off knocks that in previous years they would have had to play with.

Our one aim this season is the CL. Winning it first and qualifying second. So can we do it?

Well looking back on seasons gone by, we would have been involved in the FA Cup, the prem and some years the CL.

AW has tried to...

Now, I have began to notice true similarities between what Wenger is trying to build and the oh so young Ajax team that Van Gaal built in the early ’90s which finally crystallized in 1995/96.

The Ajax team then ofcourse had no choice but to follow the attacking tradition of the old, Cruyff teams. But the novelty in those days was the building an entire team solely on youth…with a few sprinklings of experience. Their average then was about the same with the present Arsenal squad…but just imagine how absolutely weird and crazy it was in those days.

Their team around...

Arsenal up to fourth on 50 points after a commanding 3-0 performance against Charlton at Highbury today.

Goals by Pires, Adebayor, and Hleb secured the win for the Gunners.

This preview may prove to be as boring as the weekend’s opponent. Charlton does not spark any real fear or even pique one’s interest. I watched Charlton and Liverpool two weeks back and actually fell asleep during that 0-0 match. Liverpool is certianly to blame but Charlton never seemed to take any real initiative in the match. Charlton play a 4-5-1 and, no doubt, will use it against the Gunners. Let’s hope the player’s are up for this match more than I am.

For years, Charlton have come out of the gates with real pace. They start a season well, maybe move into...

So it’s Juve in 2 weeks. The home tie will be the major deciding factor of whether Arsenal will have any hope of making the semi final. Concede a goal or worse, and Capello has the tactical nous and personnel to breeze the second leg.

After the Weder Bremen debacle, Juve will surely not be so complacent a second time.

So how do we slay Juve? I think it’s possible. The key is midfield. Nedved’s the playmaker, he is what Bergkamp used to be for Arsenal, and without him Juve’s strikers will have to give an extra 20% and be a lot more creative.

And what...
