I think that with a 4-4-2 system, the first team size should be 24-25 players
- 3 GKs
- 4 players in each outfield position (CB, FB, CM, WM, FW)
- 1-2 utility players
There should be a good mix of players in each position. The first choice players should be experienced and established. The backups for each position should have atleast one young player. Let’s see how the current squad fares…

First, I will like to say that I’m not British and I dont live in the UK, though I have lived there before…and in everyday life i’m actually anglophobic (me being more of a francophile).
Now, while we go scouting the world for young guns (no pun intended), I think AW should spend that little more time searching for cheap (undiscovered) English talent…if they are from London - great, if from north london - super!
I am not bashing the foreign legion they are great and this world is a meritocracy - but the club in general (or AW) should try to increase the...

When the recent arrival of Tomas Rosicky, I realised that the genius that is our manager has a clear bias towards attacking talent. This might be obvious to some of you, but to put it another Wenger has never spent big money on a defensive player.
When he finds the right man le Boss has not been afraid to splash the cash, examples(in pounds):
Reyes 17m
Wiltord 11m
Henry 10m
Hleb 10m
Adebayor 7m
Pires 7m
Rosicky 7m
Walcott up to 12m

Couple of points regarding next year’s squad:
1) As I mentioned at that time, Arsenal’s most pressing need is for Fabregas to add 10-15 lbs. of muscle, while still being able to play football with his current finesse level– otherwise, Arsenal are going to continue to get muscled out of midfield by the Boltons of the world– Wenger is not going to abandon the midfield pairing of Gilberto and Fabregas (when they are healthy), for at least another couple of years– he puts too much faith in his established veteran players for him to bench Gilberto in favor of...

The worst kept secret of the close season was confirmed Thursday when Robert Pires left Arsenal to join Villareal on a two year contract.
It seems quite a simple one in one out transaction with Rosicky coming in to take up that creative role in the team.
Pires has always been one of my favourite Arsenal players of the last half decade. Whilst he is the most steroetypically French of the muskateers, can you imagine how much the press would have loved him if he were English?! A left sided goal scoring creative metronome that kept the side ticking and can have an impact from the bench!...

After returning from Paris on Thursday after a 2 day trip with my soon I find that, naturally, most aspects of the game itself have been covered. And covered pretty well at that. However, there is nothing quite like being there to appreciate the details.
The first final I saw live was versus Leeds in the FA Cup final back in the early 70s. Of course we lost. After being unable to attend the double final the previous year I thought this was my first chance to experience glory. Boy, was I wrong. But it did help instill the notion of suffering for a greater cause. So after witnessing many...

Arsenal announced today that fan favorite Robert Pires has decided to leave the club in favor of a move to Champions League Semi-Final opponents, Villarreal. The Spanish club offered the 32 year old midfielder what Arsenal would not; a two-year contract.
Super Bob scored 84 goals in 284 appearances for the Gunners, including several clutch goals against Spurs - the 2001 FA Cup Semi-final stands out in my mind.
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say he’ll be missed.

I know this sounds crazy but I believe it’s true. Arsene Wenger is interested in signing the striker Goran Pandev. I know that the media in England didn’t release the news, but here in Macedonia our newspaper came up with a statement that Pandev will sign for Arsenal.
The news was confirmed by the player himself and he said:”The offer from Asenal is the most atractive one for both the clubs(he is co owned by Lazio and Udinese) and me. Representatives from Arsenal and my agent talked about possible transfer 3-4 times in the last couple of months.”
And it...
