Too much going on, can’t think straight, head about to explode!
Two words for Spurs: Ha Ha!!!
Henry hat trick seals crazy 4-2 win for the Arsenal.
Spurs get food poisoning last night, and go out and lose to West Ham 2-1.
Absolutely legendary!!!
EDIT: Oh, and Happy St. Totteringham’s Day! It came a bit later this year, but they have still not bettered us. That, to me, is important. Stuff it Spurtz.

At least they got a tailor-made excuse: food poisoning. Oh, so sad… Be careful the next time u eat before a big match then. We are off to Paris!!

From ANR -
“If that was Thierry Henry’s last game for Arsenal, he would be crying his eyes out, not laughing his head off a Sky Sports interview alongside Kolo, Ashley and Gilberto.”
I pray and hope that it is true.
Again from ANR -
“The club gave everyone, including Wigan fans, a free souvenir T-shirt.”
Excellent!!!

Great win- can’t wait to watch the match later today.
What a boost it would be for the club if TH14 signed a contract before the Barca game. It would also take pressure off of the players who might think that we have to win in order to keep him.
He said that the club had to” match his ambition”. A new 60,000 state of the art stadium, CL next year despite having as many as 8 defenders out at one time and breaking in a new midfield, in the CL final, and new superstars like Cese and Eboue in the making. I do not know what more he could ask for.
I think it is very important that we beat out Spurs for fourth. Jol has them moving in the right direction, and not making the CL should stunt thier growth. If they would have made the CL I am sure that they would have become an even greater thorn in our side next year.

Ok, who ordered the bad pizzas???
May 7th, 2006 at 1:35 pm
That the tiny Tots would have grown with their hypothetical CL experience was one possibility. I actually had them down to do an Everton, possibly a bit better, but definitely not make the top four again the following season cuz they wouldn’t have the squad. It’s academic now though! JUSTICE WAS SERVED.

I am waiting for the story to break about the gooner sub-chef who dished up the botulism, or whatever it was. Maybe he was the roomate of the waiter who blew the whistle on the Ashley Cole - Peter Kenyon meeting? London is obviously crawling with gooners in low places.
May 7th, 2006 at 1:40 pm
Whats to say??? Amazing. Even better that the supds will be crying about it for the next 20 years. hahahahaha.
Oh, and a special thanks to Rick for help before the Vilarreal game. Thanks bud. You know why!
May 7th, 2006 at 1:42 pm
Good point. They probably would have had problems with the extra games. You could say that one of the reasons they did well this year was that they only played 40 games, having fallen out of both cups in the first game. Arsenal with play 50% more games than Spurs this year.
May 7th, 2006 at 1:58 pm
Epic.
May 7th, 2006 at 4:18 pm
It couldn’t have been scripted any better - conspiracy theory included.
Farewell Highbury, we’ll take our memories of you with us to Emirates - but we have something to pick up from Paris on the way first!

Tomorrow is going to be such a good day at work collecting from Spurs fans. Not one would bet at the start of the season that Spurs would finish ahead of Arsenal. A month ago they were queuing up to bet against me. Carlsberg don’t do football bets but…..!!!!!
As for those of little faith, Wenger is some f**king idiot now!!
Roll on the Champions League final.
May 7th, 2006 at 6:17 pm
Just a beautiful day. Even watching the match on tv, you could tell the atmosphere was amazing and it was all so special. To see Henry score a hat-trick on this day and then the post match fireworks and celebrations was pure ecstasy. Even sweeter knowing the Scum had lost and we’ve upped them yet again. Bring on Barcelona!

Stand up For the Arsenal !!!!
What a day. What a game. It was a brilliant emotional roller coaster. I watched the game out of town in small small town in western Kansas. Im happy to find a bar that carried the game. Now there are not many avid fans of the EPL or Arsenal in Western Kansas, but by half time every farmer in the room was excited and asking questions about the sport and the team. Just a Stunner.
Ashley Cole looked better than he did before he was injured. His drive was back. His heart was back. I havent gotten over the scandal, but he looked good.
God is A Gooner and cursed the Spurs with the plague of food poisoning. Fitting justice a sh*te team gets the Sh*ts.
What a year:
In January-
Worst record in years
Plagued by injuries
Inexperienced you Team without Vierra
Now-
CHampions league finals
Steal forth from the scum
Thierry Henry matures into a real captain
TH14 Player of the Year for the third time
Cesc Fabregas matures
Emanuel Eboue breaksthrough
Kolo Toure still Rocks
Hleb finds his place in the team
Reyes remembers how to score
Senderos a contender for Sol Campbells position
The list goes on and on.
Just a great day. Enjoy it guys and then lets go on and beat Barca and get TH14 to stay. What started as one of the worst seasons in years may go down in History as one of the best.
Come On You REds!!!!!!!
May 7th, 2006 at 6:53 pm
Not to forget that Flamini is a more than suitable replacement for Cole/Clichy when injured.
May 7th, 2006 at 7:34 pm
I couldn’t go to Highbury, but Highbury came to me. This evening a helicopter flew above my flat in NW London trailing a HUGE Arsenal flag, did anyone else see it?
Will Henry stay or go, who knows? You know how superstitious players are. Maybe Henry has decided to stay already, but doesn’t want to put the mockers on Arsenal’s run of form and mindset.
I must admit though, if today was his last ever game at Highbury and in front of the majority of Arsenal fans, he didn’t seem to show any emotion other than happiness - which is a bit weird.
May 7th, 2006 at 8:04 pm
What an ending. What a stadium. I’ve only been to Highbury once, but it just felt like home. Just brilliant. Onto PARIS!!! COME ON ARSENAL!!
May 7th, 2006 at 8:52 pm
What is there to say, that hasn’t already been said. The sounds and noise eminating from Highbury simply make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, and tears well up in your eyes.
That old barn was ROCKING today… you could see it on TV, and hear it probably for miles.
Amazing atmosphere. From the Red & White shirts that everyone apparently got (and Wigan’s supporters got Blue!… betcha some are already going for a small fortune on Ebay!?! gotta check that!)… to the songs and chants that echoed and billowed all match long. Amazing to watch. I can only imagine what it was like BEING there. I think I’d have been crying my eyes out with JOY.
Spurs choked on a big furr ball.
ALL CREDIT to West Ham United. They played hard and played well, and DESERVED to win that match. F***ing Sherringham missed the damned penalty, probably on purpose… and they still WON. Spurs couldn’t even manage a draw. I can remember years ago, Spurs lost to United on the last day of the season… and said they didn’t want to win it, because it would give Arsenal a chance to win the title. F’n serves them right.
Thank you West Ham. Well done. I hope you go on and take down Liverpool and win the FA CUP. You deserve it.
I’ve had the honor & priviledge of going to a fair number of matches @ Highbury over the last 10 years. The stadium is fantastic in the same way Fenway Park is. Its a CLASSIC. Its what its all about. You are close to the pitch, so close you can hear the players. When it rocks, it literally rocks. Its a shrine. Its truly the HOME OF FOOTBALL.
Do you have better amenities at the new buildings? Hell yes. Better site lines, better concessions, better bathrooms, etc etc… sure. But the charm, the quaintness… the location… it makes it what it is. It will be missed by many.
I can only imagine having grown up watching that team at Highbury for 20 or 30 years, and now realizing that its never going to happen again. Odd. Sad. But time moves on. We have too many supporters for that classic Art Deco structure. Gladly, in part, it will always remain…
Fantastic Day for the Arsenal Football Club… everyone associated with it… and its supporters all over the world.
BRILLIANT.
This season has been the wildest roller-coaster ride I have ever experienced as a supporter of any team in any sport. The highs and lows and highs again were utterly amazing. One thing left to do…
onward and upward from this dream of a day… to the FINALS of the Champions League.
May 7th, 2006 at 8:52 pm
Brilliant! Amazing! Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spurs today proved that they are just sore losers. They already set grounds up for an excuse before the kick-off with the food poisoning story. So no matter what would have happenned today, they were already ready to put blame elsewhere. In the end, they may not admit they were not good enough but after 38 games, the results don’t lie. Didn’t they play the least amount of games than any other EPL team? Did they have to deal with all this on-field and off-field drama that Arsenal had? Heck Arsenal finished 4th despite gifting opponents points and goals.
This 4-2 scoreline reminded me of when Henry hauled Arsenal back against Liverpool 2 years ago to win 4-2. That was a different time with different results. But the end feeling is the same, pure utter joy!!!!!!
What a season! It had it all. And now I hope it can be ended with that CL trophy which has been such an elusive trophy and has brought so much criticism towards Wenger and Arsenal. What a day!!!
One Amazing Breath-taking Volume in Arsenal’s story closed day! Wow!
May 7th, 2006 at 9:20 pm
The only reason Henry would bolt for Barca now is to make more money… do you think that’s him?
Henry is NOT going anywhere. Book it.
May 7th, 2006 at 9:23 pm
BELIEVE!
“I don’t know what I do for the future yet,? he said. ?But we close Highbury on Sunday and I would never have thought when I arrived nine-and-a-half years ago I would do that. I didn’t think I would stay as long as that and didn’t think we’d need a new stadium.
“I would like to still create a dynasty here. I want to take further steps forward with a European [style] academy including a mix of Europe’s and England’s best players. There’s still a lot to do to take this club forward.?
With statements like this (not to mention the 3 EPL & 3 FA Cups he’s won), who can possibly fathom giving the manager’s job to someone else?
May 7th, 2006 at 9:33 pm
I’m not the most brilliant man in the world, pretty close though
…. but I’ve run the logic on Henry going to Barca…
The only logic in going to Barca would be to make more money, it’s the only one.
We’ll be in Europe (& the following year too, b/c we’re finishing higher than 4th next year, guaranteed), we might win the whole damn ECL this year, Henry is the captain & the main cog everything centers around at Arsenal, he’d be just another star at Barca.
If Barca were to arrange a transfer for Henry they’d probably have to break the bank & if they wait out the contract, Henry will be 29 going on 30 next season & will play for maybe only 4 years after that.
I just can’t find the logic why Henry would go other than he’s stupid & I know that’s not true…
May 7th, 2006 at 9:38 pm
They’ll cry about it for the next 90 years or so as they have been crying about 1919 since then. They cry a lot you know.
Brilliant results and a fitting farewell. We’ll miss you old lass.

“This season has been the wildest roller-coaster ride I have ever experienced as a supporter of any team in any sport. The highs and lows and highs again were utterly amazing. “
If it were easy it’d be boring

Always good to see the Crying Spurs Chick pic!
May 7th, 2006 at 9:55 pm
What a brilliant way to end the season! Now on to Paris, come on boys!!
Henry will stay.
Thank you Rick for your words of wisdom and trying to keep cool heads here on the site during the season.

BRILLIANT DAY!!!
4th is ours…hey spurs guess the pepto didn’t work!
Would of loved to have been there!
My only compalint is that you can’t turn the commentary off and just listen to the supporters sing!!!

Totally agree!! Should have shirts made that simply say “believe”

Flamini has always been a player that Ive liked. Even on the days with poor performance, he still fights. A little guy with spunk. It will be interesting to see what role he plays in the team in the future. Perhaps he can play Gilbertos role in the future. He’s shown he can defend and break up play. I dont envision a Cesc/Flamini midfield any time soon. The man has spirit, but I dont know if he has the skill. Arsene has promised that we will be amazed by what he can do on a larger pitch so we’ll see if he fulfils his role as a midfielder at the Grove.
What your comment really points out is the sudden and newfound depth in the team. Sure its all young blood, but they are hungry. I dont know of another team that has the promise and prospective future that we do. It makes me a little sad that Vierra would say that Arsenal lacked hunger, but Vierra has learned a bitter lesson. I love the man for what he’s done for the team, but his comments from Juve tarnished his image in my mind. Still a great man.

I just read that the police are investigating whether or not the Spurs Lasagne was tampered with to sabotage. What a surreal season!
May 8th, 2006 at 1:21 am
We are forgetting one other point - Barca are league champions two years in a row, while Arsenal have failed to challenge (let alone win it) in the last two years. I have no doubt this team will challenge for the title soon, but will it be next year?
The league is 38 games. Some are easy, some are tough. Some are in summer, some are in winter. Some are against Fulham/Wigan, some are against Bolton/Blackburn. It’s won’t be easy, especially for such a young team which will be missing experienced players like Bergkamp and Pires. That will surely be a consideration for Henry.
Personally, I think he will stay, but no one knows except him.
May 8th, 2006 at 3:58 am
Hi Danny I saw the flag as well.
Dont like all the stories about Spurs and food poisioning, they still played with the players that were ill.
Basically they were bricking it.
I said it before the pressure will get to Spurs, I did not imagine 11 of their players would have red rings the night before the game.
We did all we could do, win the game and after West Ham scored it was up to us to win the game.
May 8th, 2006 at 10:02 am
While it was nice to get that result, I’m a little bit worred about what an awful game Lehmann had yesterday. Really looked horrible on both of those goals.
I really hope that Senderos gets healthy for the final. We were extremely lucky not to get a red-card plus penalty for Sol taking down Roberts(?) in the box.
Pleased with the result, if not so much the performance.
