Fellow members of Arsenal America,
When the season comes to a close, it’s time to turn our attention to the more business-end aspects of being a supporters club. The first step in that process is our annual membership drive, which will start today. As a board, we have come to the decision that the $3.65 a year which has been the annual dues for the past several seasons can no longer sustain an organization as ambitious as Arsenal America. We have grown quickly, and are looking to grow further. Therefore, we are announcing that the new annual dues will be $20.00 a season.

There’s only a few hours left to register, so if you still haven’t done so, hurry!
OK, so, now that summer is officially here, it’s time to turn our attention to the greatest sporting event in the world, the FIFA World Cup. I’m sure we’ll be discussing the goings on in Germany quite a lot over the next six weeks or so, but to raise the stakes, I thought we could all take part in a “Pick ‘em” challenge. It’s hosted on ESPN’s Soccernet:

I’ve read an awful lot of comments recently implying that Freddie is ‘past his best’ and little better than cover for Hleb, Reyes, Rosicky and Ribery!
I’ve read that his pace has gone - that’ll be same the same pace that took him past Oleguer time and again.
I’ve read that he needs Bergkamp otherwise he’s not half the player - I don’t remember Bergkamp playing in the Bernabeu when Freddie’s runs caused havoc.
I’ve read that he’s too old - he’s 29 ffs and, when fit, is there anybody who runs more for...

I saw Ribery play with France in the last two games as a sub and he really impressed me, with very little time to play he changed the games so quickly, France was struggling AND in he went in the expense of Zidane and stole the show.
Henry looked happy to play with him, seems like a friendship is being built like the one with Pires before.
He is a player that always wants the ball and isn’t shy to keep it or attack with it, he can pass create and score goals with ease.
I was sad when I heard that Man Utd had offered 9m Pound for him without us making any move, but I...

Just for fun, or because I had nothing better to do, I went through every World Cup squad that had qualified for the finals in an attempt to uncover a future superstar. My only stipulation was that his name had to be ‘unknown’ to the vast majority of peolple outside his native land…As I dont know the vast majority of the people in the World, I became the vast majority! After a week or so I had narrowed it down to 2 players, Theo Walcott of England and Arsenal and another youngster from Croatia who plays for Dynamo Zagreb. O.K, cats out of the bag on Theo so Luka Modric wins!...

Every Gooner knows it’s a conspiracy. Thus, it’s no surprise to see the headlines yesterday and today.
First off, the BBC is reporting that Arsenal may face disciplinary action from the FA, UEFA, and FIFA for an under the table loan made to Belgian club, Bevern, the club where Emmanuel Eboue came from, with whom Arsenal have a public working relationship.
It seems to be much ado about nothing, but decide for yourself. Check the NewsNow feeds to the left.
Then, today, vice-chairman David Dein was voted off of the FA Board, and was replaced by Gill from ManUre.

…said the Daily Mirror, then edited by an Arsenal season ticket holder, in a front-page headline the day after the 1998 World Cup when Vieira of Arsenal slid the ball through to Petit of Arsenal for France’s third goal in their 3?0 win over Brazil in the final.
This is taken from an article in the June 2006 issue of the National Geographic, currently on the newsstands, authored by none other than lifelong gooner Nick Hornby. It is also available online at:

Here, I will try to present an interesting overview of the playing staff of The Arsenal.
Big Phil (Scolari) back in his Brazil days (and even in present times) is a controversial guy…he courts it for a living. One of the interesting things I have heard from him though is his “classification system” of footballers which he introduced when he coached Brazil. It has been much debated in that country…and a lot of sites exist(ed) which ridiculed it then, mainly because it was developed for him by astrologers, pschologists, etc!. This was before he won the world cup for...
