Yesterday, members of Arsenal America, Ajax USA and some additional football playing friends saluted DB10 with a spirited, fast-paced indoor match at Chelsea Piers in New York.

Arsenal America, sporting very sweet ArseAm t-shirts, perhaps came up a bit short of the Dutch Master in the talent department, but everyone had a great time as tons of goals were scored on both sides, some quite nice.

Most importantly, it was a great opportunity to meet people we know only by their online names. Great food and drink after the match rounded out an excellent afternoon.

We’d love...

So we continue to move slooooooooooowly… very patiently. Hand close to the vest. Keeping it under our hat. Mr.Wenger saying very little, as usual.

Well… my impatience is KILLING ME!
Perhaps watching Dennis’s testimonial will calm me down and lift my spirits a bit…

but the facts are…
Barcelona won the CL and are 2-time defending LaLiga Champions. They have signed Zambrotta and Thuram. (both of them would have fit nicely in our team)

Chelsea have won the league easily for 2 consecutive years, and have brought in Ballack and Schevy…...

As I look upon pictures of the magnificent Emirates Stadium and consider what a wonderful tribute to Dennis Bergkamp for his 11 years of pristine service my mind spares a thought for Pat.

The first time I saw Vieira was in his first appearance for Arsenal. We were a very different club then from the one we are today. The team had little in attack, less in midfield, but a defence that has gone down in history as the best.

Enter a tall gangly player that NO ONE had ever seen or heard of.

By the end of the game I was?gob-smacked. I thought to myself, if we can get another...

Those of us who are regular visitors to ESPN.com will no doubt be somewhat confused at today’s news: the most popular internet sports journalist in the world, Bill “The Sports Guy” Simmons, has chosen to be a Spurs fan. Of his own free will.

I’m not sure whether I should be disappointed or not.

I think Ashley Cole is the best left back in the world…

When he’s playing for ARSENAL, and playing alongside THIERRY HENRY.

Under Wenger, Arsenal has an unique playing system. I believe this system makes many players look better than they really are.

First of all, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Wenger encourages his players to EXPRESS THEMSELVES on the pitch. Therefore we saw Tony Adams pushing up all the way to the opposition half from time to time. It’s something that was unthinkable under George Graham.

Ashley Cole is an attacking-minded full...

I know that this a bit late, but I had to wait until Rick L got back Stateside to confirm the award. Without further ado, on behalf of Arsenal America, I’d like to congratulate Sachin Gandhi, the winner of the Arsenal America World Cup Pickem’ Challenge.

Sachin finished with a 99% accuracy rate, making only 13 incorrect picks throughout the tournament.

For his skills as a prognosticator, Sachin will soon become the proud owner of a 2005-06 Home shirt.

Congratulations Sachin, and thanks to everyone who participated in our challenge. Arsenal America was the single...

Calling all NYC-area Gooners. Hey guys, I need to hear from you. We have the Bergkamp Cup this Saturday at Chelsea Piers against Ajax USA. I need confirmations by Wednesday, so please, contact me via email at rick@arsenalamerica.com.

We’ll play the indoor 5 a side and then have some food and tell our favorite DB10 stories, talk football and have a good time.

Is there any way to watch Bergkamp’s Testimonial here in the States?

Good question. I don’t believe so, I haven’t seen it listed anywhere.

I have been writing the Match Previews for ArsenalAmerica for the last five years. I first started with the Cannonball newsletter, that ultimately evolved into this club that I vow eternal loyalty. My life is considerably different than it was five years ago and now I do not have the same amount of time to devote to the club. I also have run out of things to say. It may have been obvious that I am not a writer nor have I claimed to be one. I was just a fan who liked to talk about English Football and the opponents the Gunners would face. I have enjoyed getting my say but I don’t believe...
