no losses are good, but i saw a lot of things i liked out there… call me crazy. I saw Gilberto have a solid performance. Saw Rosicky try hard, Speechless with Walcott’s poise and hunger. TH14 wasn’t anywhere near his best of course and RVP didn’t play well either.
It was an odd game overall for me, it didn’t even feel like a league game, more like preseason.
There were times i was reminded of the invisible team, such as that amazing play down the right on the 13th minute or so, impressive!
i think we can only go up from there, and there are positives. The back 4 looked good and i just feel it’s too early to get all caught up in negatity, yet i’m realistic.
i belie we can destroy team when they all click into gear, and I can’t wait to see more of Theo and Rosicky.
Games like this are what we need if it’s what it will take for wenger to buy a Mascherano, or even an Ayala…. possibilities.

And when you feel disappointed, do you really have a mood to come back writting your post-game comment or analysis? Hell, we can analysis all day, does it really matter? Would it help to ease the pain?
Worst still, we know what we are going to read from you over here whenever after a defeat. Besides, in every compeition there is only ONE winner. To PREDICT YOUR TEAM IS GOING TO LOSE IS MUCH EASIER THAN PREDICT THEM TO WIN. Take EPL, u got only 1 winner and 19 losers. Take CL, you got only 1 winner and God knows how many losers. So what’s the big deal?

There’s something badly wrong with this Arsenal team, something fatally wrong. Ultimately, I think the players simply aren’t good enough to win anything. They will win games, quite a few, and will probably improve - but they won’t win enough or improve enough to win a thing this season unless Wenger brings in 2-3 players before August 31 - and realistically that’s not going to happen.
I honestly believe Wenger has let Arsenal down again this summer, he has been far too slow to react to problems within the team, like unhappy players who want out. He is playing the transfer game like a game of poker and it’s sh*t or bust. He is gambling with Arsenal’s season again, just like he did last year when he got shot of Vieira and pinned all his hopes on Baptista and Robinho and lost.
If I was Henry I’d feel let down, he has committed his loyalty to Arsenal and has seen Bergkamp, Pires, Campbell, probably followed by Cole and Reyes float out the door only to be replaced by one lightweight palyer who will need 6 months to adapt. It’s not good enough.

Cole and Reyes, their whole transfer saga being last for so long are simply because of one reason - the bidding clubs failed to reach Arsenal’s asking price. There is no POSSIBLE way for AW to response to it any way quicker. How? We can’t possible just sell Reyes to Real Or Atl. Madrid for 8 millions (the money they bidded) because we want to settle things quicker right?

Right now it’s a real testing time for CHARACTER. We either hold our nerve and win our next match, or bottle it and risk the chance to see our young side’s confidence get torn apart.
No doubt we will be under tremendous pressure. But football at this level the strength of mind is just as important as talent. The kids got to show they got what it takes to live up to the challenge. I really hope they will, and they HAVE to.

I DO NOT think it is time to panic. I know ManU is up 8 pts or so, blah, blah, blah, but we have a game in hand so put away the calculators and focus on the next match. 4 days left let’s see what AW has cooking before we begin to lose our minds.
The Arsenal need a wake up call….Is it Citeh? I surely hope so. We can't continue going on like this; it will be disaster if we do. We don't have an edge to us any more; we are too predictable. Every team knows that Arsenal are the light weight team who don't cross, don't shoot and want to walk the ball into the net. I thought Justin Hoyte is not ready for the Big Time. Yes he is young and learning his craft, but he is beaten by pace all too often and he made a mistake on Citeh's goal. OK, shite happens….no problem. Our counter attack is a mere shadow of what it was 3 years ago. We should be able to split teams like Man Citeh wide open. Rosicky is promising but will take time to adjust like every one else. TH14 looks tired.

I thought this was a game where Arsenal could have taken their left (or right) leg off and beat Man C about the head with it. Come on now, Corradi a 30- something Serie A reject and Vassel-what position was he playing anyway -holding MF/CF. The question is why did we not win a winnable game? The question is does this foretell how we will play in September?
Arsenal played like a tired team that is still struggling to find its match fitness level. All the possession (hell, we’ll even give you the ball) can not overcome poor first touches, indecision in front of goal, an unwillingness to shoot, a lack of directness and a lack of speed on the counter attack. Certain players can be singled out for being especially poor by our and their standards. Henry admits to being at only 60% fit and AW should have subbed him out. How many times did he received the ball in space and wait for defenders to close him down. He should have given up that second direct kick to someone else. He beat no one and in fact was caught on near breaks. Eboue was atrocious on the day. He could pass to no one and his crosses were adventures. He offered nothing to the attack. Hoyte is a RB who is learning the LB position. He gave away a clear penalty but that can happen to any defender when it isn’t so clear (ask Eboue and Chris Powell). That is not why we lost this game. Rosicky is still learning this English game (like Hleb before him) and needs to maintain width to open up the passing lanes. When will Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Lehman) show up as the professional German GK and not an English hissy fit who almost gave away a goal.
I thought Djourou had a good game especially moving forward. Gilberto and Fabregas also had good games but needed their teammates to step up to make their games into great ones.
My impressions after two games are that it maybe mid-September before Arsenal can get everyone (Rosicky excluded) on the same page. When the training become less a labor and more a good work out. We will only know when we can see it in the Premiership and not Europe where teams will leave holes for us to exploit.
Arsenal lost this game because it is not fit enough to impose its will on teams that will continually pack the box. If your team lacks the fitness to finish then you need to start a big, strong CF (Adebayor) in the box to impose his presence on the defense on set plays and crosses. Adebayor also holds the ball up well and knocks balls down well for players coming through. Adebayor plays well with Henry or RVP but RVP has not shown that he combines well with Henry. AW needs to find a better balance of skill, speed, width and directness in attack. In two games, Arsenal have scored just one goal by their DM who just let er rip. Now wasn’t that refreshing for a change, a decisive shot in anger instead of just strolling it into the net. Once all five Arsenal forwards were on, there was not one ball played into the box to put pressure on the defense.
There are no players who could or should be brought in now to right the good ship Arsenal. The solutions lie within.
I was disappointed to read AW and Henry’s comments about Rennie. Newsflash, if you WIN the game like you are suppose to then that overcomes bad offside calls and non PK calls. Three games into the season and the refereeing has been headline worthy for its absurdity. At least no had a fractured ankle or concussion this time.
Arsenal could of/should of won at Man City over the weekend?these things happen in football. Of course, it?s an awful start. But it?s not the end of the season. We need to look at in small increments?yes?but NOT two games. Let?s see where we settle after five.
Nonetheless, I do agree that this season is shaping to be a disappointment. When I read the quote below from AW, I almost tossed my lunch:

Naturally, they will have to fight for their place in the team, but if we took away their chance of playing it would kill all the work we have put in over the past three years. I love the young guys too. And I think many of them should start many of our matches. But we are a world class club?right? We need world class depth. We need world class experience as well. Having veteran players around to help the young men in training and to allow them to sit from time to time is critical for a player?s development.
And of course, no where is this more evident than in the back. AFC have been declining in good value there for some time (their remarkable Champions League streak excluded). Now no Sol and no Ash. Senderos and all his limited experience is missed. Why the hell AW can?t buy a veteran defender is beyond me. It?s stupid. At this point, I?d take Hargreaves for heaven?s sake. Anyone. A warm body between 25 and 30. So many fine defenders were moving around this summer and we did nothing.
To make it worse you have poison in the locker room from the aforementioned Cole and the even whinier Reyes. These two are undermining spirit. I wish we just send them to the reserves until further notice.
This is the lowest and least excited that I have felt about the club since 95/96. But hell. It’s been a fun ten years or so.
AW knows what we’re missing but he doesn’t seem to be able to do anything about it. He’s said it in discussing both our EPL games: “We’re lacking sharpness.” It’s a complex thing to get into the players but he needs to figure it out.
Personally I don’t think the defense has been very great and I really can’t wait for Senderos and Clichy to be fit again. And yea, it was a youngster’s mistake by Hoyte and so I don’t blame him for the loss. The problem is finishing. Sure, Henry isn’t ready yet for the EPL. But he’s our captain and our primary goldscorer and it’s a problem that the team doesn’t do well if he doesn’t. I’m not sure what promises were made in order to get him to renew his contract but I hope that his performance doesn’t reflect a feeling of betrayal by the club. RvP and Ade don’t pair with him like Bergkamp and Pires did. But in this game I felt that he, more than anyone, let the team down.
I loathe Chelski with the rest of you but I watched the game today hoping for another Boro-like miracle. Instead I saw a lot of what Arsenal need. That c— Drogba puts his muscle to use like Sol did on the backline. He earned that goal himself and I don’t see anyone on Arsenal that could do the same. I don’t think we’ll get Baptista and so we’ll end up playing this season a lot like last. It took us half a year to find our sharpness and we can’t afford to wait that long this time around.
our problem. no width. that was ok at highbury cause you don’t use it much. but with a bigger pitch, we need proper wingers. hleb and rosicky are not wingers. our problem is our midfield. man, don’t we need Reyes right now. something like this will work alot better for us. as reyes wants to leave, i suggest we big for Downing. walcott must play instead of hleb. pennant would be great right now. hleb and rosicky only good for 4-5-1. id much rather wenger play that now then 4-4-2
Wenger’s failing in this game has been not replacing/sorting Cole, but I think we all know his hands are pretty much tied until September 1st. By the way Cole played for the reserves yesterday, so looks like he is very much staying. Hoyte’s radar was off all game.
Anyone who saw the game would have to admit we were by far the better side and were more or less robbed. Poor finishing from Henry (though should he even be in the team in this form?) cost us this game - if Adebayor had missed those chances, half this board would be reiterating that he is not Arsenal class.

The Arsenal need a wake up call….Is it Citeh? I surely hope so. We can't continue going on like this; it will be disaster if we do. We don't have an edge to us any more; we are too predictable. Every team knows that Arsenal are the light weight team who don't cross, don't shoot and want to walk the ball into the net. I thought Justin Hoyte is not ready for the Big Time. Yes he is young and learning his craft, but he is beaten by pace all too often and he made a mistake on Citeh's goal. OK, shite happens….no problem. Our counter attack is a mere shadow of what it was 3 years ago. We should be able to split teams like Man Citeh wide open. Rosicky is promising but will take time to adjust like every one else. TH14 looks tired.

I thought this was a game where Arsenal could have taken their left (or right) leg off and beat Man C about the head with it. Come on now, Corradi a 30- something Serie A reject and Vassel-what position was he playing anyway -holding MF/CF. The question is why did we not win a winnable game? The question is does this foretell how we will play in September?
Arsenal played like a tired team that is still struggling to find its match fitness level. All the possession (hell, we’ll even give you the ball) can not overcome poor first touches, indecision in front of goal, an unwillingness to shoot, a lack of directness and a lack of speed on the counter attack. Certain players can be singled out for being especially poor by our and their standards. Henry admits to being at only 60% fit and AW should have subbed him out. How many times did he received the ball in space and wait for defenders to close him down. He should have given up that second direct kick to someone else. He beat no one and in fact was caught on near breaks. Eboue was atrocious on the day. He could pass to no one and his crosses were adventures. He offered nothing to the attack. Hoyte is a RB who is learning the LB position. He gave away a clear penalty but that can happen to any defender when it isn’t so clear (ask Eboue and Chris Powell). That is not why we lost this game. Rosicky is still learning this English game (like Hleb before him) and needs to maintain width to open up the passing lanes. When will Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Lehman) show up as the professional German GK and not an English hissy fit who almost gave away a goal.
I thought Djourou had a good game especially moving forward. Gilberto and Fabregas also had good games but needed their teammates to step up to make their games into great ones.
My impressions after two games are that it maybe mid-September before Arsenal can get everyone (Rosicky excluded) on the same page. When the training become less a labor and more a good work out. We will only know when we can see it in the Premiership and not Europe where teams will leave holes for us to exploit.
Arsenal lost this game because it is not fit enough to impose its will on teams that will continually pack the box. If your team lacks the fitness to finish then you need to start a big, strong CF (Adebayor) in the box to impose his presence on the defense on set plays and crosses. Adebayor also holds the ball up well and knocks balls down well for players coming through. Adebayor plays well with Henry or RVP but RVP has not shown that he combines well with Henry. AW needs to find a better balance of skill, speed, width and directness in attack. In two games, Arsenal have scored just one goal by their DM who just let er rip. Now wasn’t that refreshing for a change, a decisive shot in anger instead of just strolling it into the net. Once all five Arsenal forwards were on, there was not one ball played into the box to put pressure on the defense.
There are no players who could or should be brought in now to right the good ship Arsenal. The solutions lie within.
I was disappointed to read AW and Henry’s comments about Rennie. Newsflash, if you WIN the game like you are suppose to then that overcomes bad offside calls and non PK calls. Three games into the season and the refereeing has been headline worthy for its absurdity. At least no had a fractured ankle or concussion this time.

Arsenal could of/should of won at Man City over the weekend?these things happen in football. Of course, it?s an awful start. But it?s not the end of the season. We need to look at in small increments?yes?but NOT two games. Let?s see where we settle after five.
Nonetheless, I do agree that this season is shaping to be a disappointment. When I read the quote below from AW, I almost tossed my lunch:
“I have showed faith in our youngsters, who showed a lot of talent last season. Now if I put someone in ahead of them, it would be like killing them off. Naturally, they will have to fight for their place in the team, but if we took away their chance of playing it would kill all the work we have put in over the past three years. It is a sign of confidence because if I wanted to spend some money - a bit, anyway! - I could.”
I love the young guys too. And I think many of them should start many of our matches. But we are a world class club?right? We need world class depth. We need world class experience as well. Having veteran players around to help the young men in training and to allow them to sit from time to time is critical for a player?s development.
And of course, no where is this more evident than in the back. AFC have been declining in good value there for some time (their remarkable Champions League streak excluded). Now no Sol and no Ash. Senderos and all his limited experience is missed. Why the hell AW can?t buy a veteran defender is beyond me. It?s stupid. At this point, I?d take Hargreaves for heaven?s sake. Anyone. A warm body between 25 and 30. So many fine defenders were moving around this summer and we did nothing.
To make it worse you have poison in the locker room from the aforementioned Cole and the even whinier Reyes. These two are undermining spirit. I wish we just send them to the reserves until further notice.
This is the lowest and least excited that I have felt about the club since 95/96. But hell. It’s been a fun ten years or so.

AW knows what we’re missing but he doesn’t seem to be able to do anything about it. He’s said it in discussing both our EPL games: “We’re lacking sharpness.” It’s a complex thing to get into the players but he needs to figure it out.
Personally I don’t think the defense has been very great and I really can’t wait for Senderos and Clichy to be fit again. And yea, it was a youngster’s mistake by Hoyte and so I don’t blame him for the loss. The problem is finishing. Sure, Henry isn’t ready yet for the EPL. But he’s our captain and our primary goldscorer and it’s a problem that the team doesn’t do well if he doesn’t. I’m not sure what promises were made in order to get him to renew his contract but I hope that his performance doesn’t reflect a feeling of betrayal by the club. RvP and Ade don’t pair with him like Bergkamp and Pires did. But in this game I felt that he, more than anyone, let the team down.
I loathe Chelski with the rest of you but I watched the game today hoping for another Boro-like miracle. Instead I saw a lot of what Arsenal need. That c— Drogba puts his muscle to use like Sol did on the backline. He earned that goal himself and I don’t see anyone on Arsenal that could do the same. I don’t think we’ll get Baptista and so we’ll end up playing this season a lot like last. It took us half a year to find our sharpness and we can’t afford to wait that long this time around.

our problem. no width. that was ok at highbury cause you don’t use it much. but with a bigger pitch, we need proper wingers. hleb and rosicky are not wingers. our problem is our midfield. man, don’t we need Reyes right now. something like this will work alot better for us. as reyes wants to leave, i suggest we big for Downing. walcott must play instead of hleb. pennant would be great right now. hleb and rosicky only good for 4-5-1. id much rather wenger play that now then 4-4-2

Debacle, a noun meaning

- a violent rush of waters or ice.
Now unless it was colder on the pitch than it looked on TV, I didn’t see a debacle unless of course the rush of waters occurred off camera.

Wenger’s failing in this game has been not replacing/sorting Cole, but I think we all know his hands are pretty much tied until September 1st. By the way Cole played for the reserves yesterday, so looks like he is very much staying. Hoyte’s radar was off all game.
Anyone who saw the game would have to admit we were by far the better side and were more or less robbed. Poor finishing from Henry (though should he even be in the team in this form?) cost us this game - if Adebayor had missed those chances, half this board would be reiterating that he is not Arsenal class.

The slight difference is that Henry is Arsenal’s all-time record goal scorer while Adebayor couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo even at Monaco.
