What’s that? The season isn’t over? That’s right! Adebayor in the 85th after Gilberto had a PK saved in the first half and Man U cleared another off the line. Lehmann made not one but two unreal saves, one in mid-game as C. Ronaldo blasted it off his face from close range, the other in the dying minutes to preserve the win.

Cesc was, well Cesc - brilliant. Baptista came on late and looked dangerous. Rosicky likes to shoot - which is a good thing.

The Arsenal just need to string a couple of victories together now.

Arsenal midfield versus ManU. midfield - who’s better, who’s best, who’s got the goods?

For the most part, games are won or lost in the midfield.

There is a lot of talk about the lack of English players in the Arsenal team. It is not something I have ever been worried about however I was intrigued why the number has been reducing.

AW states the main reason is their price, and with examples such as Carrick for 18 million he has got a point as you could get a better European player for half the price.

Our academy is about 50 ? 50 English against foreign imports which is interesting as the first squad may have two players out of 24, so about 8% are English.

I'm waffling between watching the Arsenal-ManUre match with the missus in the comfort of my living room or going to Mad Dog in The Fog to watch it with a crowd. Any other Gooners in SF going to be there?

Robin Van Persie draws a penalty kick, Hamburg’s keeper gets sent off, Gilberto converts the penalty, and sees another chance just miss, and Rosicky smashes in his first goal for the Gunners.

That was the story of this season’s first European night. No Titi, no Freddie, and, after going off after 25 minutes with an thigh injury, no Kolo.

A nice change of pace from the frustrations of the Prem, but it’s back to business on Sunday as a trip to Old Trafford looms large.

Kickoff...

Anyone planning on coming to New York this weekend for our gathering, please let me know ASAP whether you need tickets to the MLS match @ Giants Stadium on Saturday night. We need to get the numbers in to the RedBulls by tomorrow. If we get at least 15 people to sign up for tickets, we’ll get them at a discounted rate ($20 each), along with a free RedBull NY t-shirt.

Send emails to mikek AT arsenalamerica DOT com

Thanks,
Mike

I’ve just been reading some excerpts from this dimwits tragic book. And football players wonder why the general public cannot relate to them? Seriously, this guy is living on another planet.

Cole:

“My worst fears were confirmed when, as Thierry and I sat in the centre circle after the final whistle, his name was sung from the rooftops while my contribution was recognised by a deafening silence.

“As his chants faded away we waited for mine. And we waited. And there was nothing. ‘They’re not bothered about me’, I said, resigned to the fact....
