Contrary to reports by others on this site, the Queen will officially open the Emirates Stadium on Thursday…..and not before the Everton game on Saturday as some people on here seem to think.

I am an anarchist.
I am the anti-christ.
God Save the Queen.

Let’s leave our Queen out of this Stag, even if you want to quote 30 yr. old songs by a bunch of low lifes, killers and drug fiends. Hey she’s still there and where are the Sex Pistols?

I sit corrected. If I remember correctly, I do believe someone mentioned the Thursday date, but that just seemed dumb. Why have an opening ceremony when no one will be there?
October 25th, 2006 at 4:43 pm
Trust me, nobody wants to see the Queen.

….another one of your ‘realistic balanced comments’ DannyT?
Arsenal are a classy club.
Having the new stadium opened by the Head of State would be classy.
I would think most fans would see it as such and want to be at the occassion if it was a match-day.
Anyway, what’s wrong with the Queen?
….a lady who has always acted and carried out her role with dignity.

Off Topic:
Since Wenger has had such a revolutionary effect on the EPL can’t he receive a knighthood or OBE or something like that.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:17 pm
Some people happen to believe that the Queen serves no purpose whatsoever - and I’m one of them.
Anyway, what has the Queen got to do with football? I would be more honoured if Pele opened it, someone who actually earns respect within the game - not some daft old bat in a hat.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:19 pm
I think you’ll find he was given the OBE in 2003.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:32 pm
He was awarded the OBE in 2003….along with Gerard Houllier
He was awarded the L?gion d’Honneur, France’s higest award in 2002

?Some people happen to believe that the Queen serves no purpose whatsoever - and I’m one of them.?
?..let?s leave that up to the English to decide, your intellect is probably better directed helping the US
?Anyway, what has the Queen got to do with football??
?..she?s not signing for the club, she?s opening the stadium, she does that type of thing now and again
?I would be more honoured if Pele opened it, someone who actually earns respect within the game?
?…didn?t David Dein ask your opinion?.I?m gobsmacked
?- not some daft old bat in a hat.?
??now, now, is that really necessary

Are you a royalist or something? Or just an idiot?
October 26th, 2006 at 8:10 am
In the French secret service we trust. They have done a good job and knock the queen out for good. Well done you f’s.
The Queen has suffer an injury setback and will not make it to the United Emirates staduim. Anyway why we Arsenal need the Queen to open their new stadium? There are lots of better folks to do that in London or the Borough of H&I
October 26th, 2006 at 8:19 am
danny, he did not insult u, so why go there?
the fact u dont like the queen is your opinion. but u dont need to insult her or anybody that tries to defend her.
i?m not british but in my view she is an old, respectable and classy lady. and its a great move on the clubs part.
arsenal is an english institution and it will mean a BIG deal to all those ppl in north london to have the queen come open their stadium….you have to respect that.
October 26th, 2006 at 8:47 am
ok, apologies to Kiwi. However, trust me, very few North Londoners will give a damn about the Queen opening the Emirates Stadium.
October 26th, 2006 at 8:49 am
Yeah, the Duke of Edinburgh’s going instead. A bigger upper class idiot you will not find. And by the way, that’s not an insult, it’s a fact
October 26th, 2006 at 9:42 am
We obviously need Enrico Palazzo to do the opening.
DannyT, just ignore the royalty thing and go back to considering the opening Bergkamp’s testimonial. It’s all in the mind.

Queens open stadiums and soccer players play in the them. It doesn’t matter if your a republican or a loyalist that’s what royalty do. So let her do her job and it’s a honour when she does.
You Yankees are just jealous that the only Queens you have are men dressed up like woman with their wieners tucked up tight in their underpants with duct tape - ouch.
I don’t really care much for royalty either but it’s there and they do their thing while we do ours. I’ve had the privilege of knowing some royalty, knights and such and they’re good people I don’t need their heads on a plate to prove anything.
Relax it’s a honour and looks good in the media and let’s not forget that Crown Prince William is in the FA.
October 26th, 2006 at 5:30 pm
Danny.
Neither a royalist nor an idiot?.but showing respect is a good character trait.
October 26th, 2006 at 6:41 pm
I prefer tolerance to respect. For example, I do not respect religious people - I think they’re all mentally retarded - but I do tolerate them.
October 26th, 2006 at 9:29 pm
you talk to much bullcrap man. shut up already :/
October 26th, 2006 at 9:34 pm
Preferring ?tolerance? over ?respect? is like choosing to support Spurs over Arsenal.
Why would you do it?
Sure they’re in the same general vicinity but why settle for second best?
One flatters to deceive the other offers success and regular moments of magic.
One breeds a negative spirit the other a positive outlook.
October 27th, 2006 at 6:12 am
I respect Arsenal and tolerate Spurs, if that’s what you mean.
October 27th, 2006 at 5:42 pm
Who cares whether she was there or not?
The only question in my mind is will it help the team improve. If the Queen can make the team play 10% better, she can come very week.
