Henry NOT Shortlisted in World Player of the Year Award

I can’t believe Henry is not even shorlisted in the World Player of the Year Award!

To top it off, they’ve got Zidane in the final 3!

Are you kidding me?

What exactly did Zidane do last season? His World Cup performance was average at best. He won the Golden Ball simply because every other major star was rubbish during the World Cup.

No doubt we can’t call Henry a big game player. I guess that’s why he’s lost it year, after year, after year. However, does the judging panel rate CONSISTENCY at all?

Talking about playing well year in, year out, throughout the course of an ENTIRE season, nobody has been more consistent than Titi.

It appears to me those judges watched only the World Cup.

Fulham at the Cottage

Ok, so the Bolton thing was well, er…not entirely shocking, dissappointing yes, but that result was always probable.

Now, its on to our friends from Fulham. They are our friends for numerous reasons: they arent near us enough, they arent physical and they play 4-4-2 and they try to attack even though they are wack at it.
Excellent!!!

We All Live in a Perry Groves World!!

Perhaps young Gooners who are under 20 probably have never heard of Perry Groves. Can’t blame them, as he’s hardly a “star”. In fact, he’s not even a regular starter during his playing days for Arsenal. But Groves did play a symbolic role in the Arsenal history. He’s the first player George Graham signed for Arsenal, and helped starting the Arsenal revival under Graham.

An out-and-out winger he’s best remembered by his red hair, his aggressiveness on the pitch, and setting up a goal for Charlie Nicolas in the 1986 Littlewoods Cup final to win our first trophy under Graham. Talent wise, Groves probably couldn’t even make it into the current Arsenal reserve team. But he got something most of the current set of players lack of – a big HEART.

Recently he has published a book. “Who would be interested to buy it?” you may wonder. But guess what? It’s outselling the gold-digging Cashley’s “My Defence”! A book from an unsung role player of the 80s outsold the world’s best left back of today? I guess it shows that what are the elements in the game fans truly valued.
